CHAOS AWARDS - ROUND 2 - IT'S HERE

Good evening everyone. Congratulations first of all to those of you who found out last night that you were nominated for one of our awards! Now, though, down to the serious business...

In round 2, a panel of expert judges will pick fromthe nominees, and decided who wins the awards. Your prestigious judging panel for the inaugural Chaos Awards is as follows

Katie Kairiri
Stacey Walton
Regan Futrell
Jason Smith
Ryan Lee
Eric Quillington
Malory Evans (tbc)
Miss Vanity (tbc)

So, how does it work...I hear you ask. Well, Im going to tell you.

The Round will start tonight, right now...and the acts who have been nominated are asked to PLUG YOUR ACTS FOR THE AWARDS YOU ARE NOMINATED FOR ONLY....the judges will not be deciding on the winners just yet. You have 24 hours to get your plugs in, and then at 6PM tomorrow (UK time) the judging period will open, and the judges will email their votes to Chaos Mag (OOC: PM).

The judging will work as follows:

-Only the above judges can vote

-Judges MUST vote in ALL categories

-Only nominated acts can receive votes

-Judges will choose three acts from each category, and award them points. Their favourite will receive 3 points, the next 2 points, and the 3rd will receive one point. For example, if the category was best band, and the nominees were: Muse, REM, Kings Of Leon, Queen, U2, Green Day, and Coldplay...I could vote as such: Muse - 3pts, KoL - 2pts, Coldplay - 1pt. The remaining acts receive no points from that particular judge in that category.

-When all judges have voted, I and my (TBA) co host, will tally up scores independantly, and prepare for the big party a week tomorrow!!!
Good luck, and please get to the plugging.

Scott

PS. Can all judges please be as fair as possible, and try to read ALL plugs tomorrow, before casting your votes. Thank you!

Cristina Lake

Best Newcomer
Her debut album was a massive critical success receiving high praise from some of the biggest names in music and it even helped put metal god Jason Smith on the map as a versatile producer. Since then she has toured whenever her busy schedule has allowed, she’s worked on two major films and was involved in a volatile high profile relationship with Jack Frost all at the age of 19.

Alicia Lena

Best Solo Artist (Female)
She broke into the music industry in February of 2010 and quickly became a household name, attracting the likes of Stephanie Fierce and Ryan Ross Hernandez for her debut album which has gone on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide. Despite the critical success the album stalled at a peak of 12 in the USA but it’s her single’s which have thrust her into the limelight, releasing four singles New York Love Affair (Feat. Stephanie Fierce) peaking at 22 in the USA, More Than You’ll Ever Know peaking at 17 in the USA, Party-Starter (Feat. Tisha Jackson) peaking at number 7 in the USA and Rooftops (Feat. Ryan Ross Hernandez) peaking at number 3 in the Top20 charts.
In September she announced a special extended edition of the album out in December.
She has achieved all of this in a short space of time and next year it’s set to continue.

Stacey Walton
Best Newcomer
It’s hard to believe that Stacey Walton only broke onto the scene in July this year. Making her major live gig debut supporting Cosmic Beauty Contest, and it’s been all rise since then. She’s toured as much as time has allowed and she’s gained massive backing for the rawness of her live shows.
She released her debut single A Tender Kiss in mid July to very little interest, struggling to chart, but it all changed in August when the song unexpectedly re-entered the chart and stormed it, peaking at number 2 on the Top20 and staying there for almost 3 months.
This helped through her into the consciousness of the music world and she followed the momentum by releasing her debut album, The Sun Always Rises which peaked at number 7 in the UK and has gone on to sell 3 million copies in a very short space of time.
She released her follow up single and despite the huge pressure it still became a huge success peaking at number 4 on the Top20.
But it’s been the critical support from her peers which has held her head and shoulders above any of the other newcomers, Artists spend their whole career striving to get the critical reception from their peers but it’s just somehow came so easy to Stacey Walton.

The Music Hall Of Fame
Best Event
The Music Hall Of Fame was an evening where the whole industry came together to acknowledge the legends of music and the future of music, the show included live performances from every walk of music life from the incredible opening by GirlSpice and brilliant finale by The Bards (feat. Michelle Green).
The stars came flooding out for the show and it also created an unlikely celebrity in Jake Wilson, the host who has rarely been out of the spotlight since.

Jake Wilson
Best Personality
Jake Wilson is an unlikely success. Prior to his success in the music industry he was a fairly unknown actor/writer/director.
He became huge after the Hall Of Fame Awards and since then has hosted his own music chat show and is set to debut his brand new TV Drama.

Best Moment

Here it is in all of it’s glory.

Jake Wilson: Oh wow, GirlSpice, how amazing were they and they‘ll be back later with a special performance, It’s an incredible turn out tonight and It’s an honour to be hosting this, the very first Music Hall Of Fame awards show and look at all of you beautiful people here, of course the girls from GirlSpice, Alicia Lena and the very beautiful and weird Glamazon and of course the stunning but barely legal Michelle Green and Brittany Knox of course, now I know she has her knockers, (awkward silence) but I’m a fan, I think she’s the breast. (A couple of giggles in the audience).
We have an amazing night lined up for you, some surprise performances which I think will blow you away.
Anyway onto the next performance, it’s a bizarre collaboration and quite frankly I don’t understand how this came about but hey, I’m sure they’re gonna be great, Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome to the stage, Saburban Sunrise and Tisha Jackson.

OOC: Really, Best moment, It’s sooooo over-rated :D

Best Band/Best Performance in Alternative Music: Infinite

Since emerging in the music scene last year, Infinite has been hailed by critics and music fans as one of the most talented alternative bands in recent history. Comprised of Eric Quillington, Greg Oldson, and Matt Roberts, their music has always been as original and cliche-avoiding as possible. The trio grew up in Teignmouth, and formed Infinite in their final year of school. Their debut single, Styx, was recorded when they were 19 and released a year later. The piano-driven song screamed of overblown pretension, but something in it's thoughtful lyrics struck a chord with the underground audience. With a rapidly developing fanbase and a moderately successful single, backing them up, Infinite went into the studio to record their debut EP. The original idea was for the EP, titled PROTOTYPE, to have 6 original songs and six covers, but the recording sessions grew out of hand. A stylistic change from electronica and piano-driven rock to brooding alternative music marked the shift of focus towards making a debut album. After more than six months in the studio, Infinite finished what became their first album; Blue Nebula.

Blue Nebula, with it's wide lyrical subject matter from aliens to revolution, gained Infinite the respect of fellow musicians, and the band was soon given a support position on Saburben Sunrise's current tour. Two of the singles released from the album, Supernova and Fusion Paranoia, were given much airplay on radio stations. This sudden jump from unknown to respected band put Infinite in a state of lethargy for much of this period, and Eric Quillington's aggressive stage persona and sarcastic attitude towards interviews were a prime example of the feelings during this time.

Soon, however, Infinite both embraced their success and took a huge musical leap forward. Their second album, Midnight Skies, was recorded in a much quicker period of time and showed a band at peace with their lifestyle. The lyrics of the album were similarly matured; the dark and outlandish themes of the first album were replaced by a focused concept of dreams. Critics and fans of the band applauded the album, acknoledging the leap forward it represented.

Today, Infinite is one of the most respected bands in the industry. Their two albums frequently appear on critic's 'Best of' lists, and Infinite is the only act to have held the top 2 positions of the 'Top 20 Airplay Chart' for consecutive weeks. Eric Quillington is widely acknowledged as one of the busiest men in music; he has produced such albums as Stacey Walton's 'The Sun Always Rises', and was included in a collaboration song on the Bard's legendary album 'Allies'. Infinite's music has been embraced and loved by a generation, and the future looks very bright for this alternative band.

Best Single: Problems With Pluto

[Information about the song 'Problems With Pluto', and the single's B-Sides]

Problems with Pluto- The first single off of Midnight Skies, Problems With Pluto is an excellent example of the deeper and more matured sound Infinite wanted off of their second album. With new influences ranging from U2's 'The Fly' to Moby's 'Porcelain', the song is more of an evolution of their sound rather than the complete shift in musical direction that Eric Quillington wanted. The lyrics are also more focused than before; rather than the vague sketches of emotion from Blue Nebula, the song is a verbal assault on doomsday theorists. The singing is also different; rather than Quillington taking lead vocals, the song is divided between himself and Greg Oldson. The two vocals are blended together to create an interesting sound, and is only split into two separate voices during the chorus. The newer sound is already a hit with fans; the song has been played in place of fan-favorite Supernova, and the song held the Number 1 spot on the Top 20 Airplay Chart for two consecutive weeks.

Oxygen Thief (Reckoner Cover)- One of Infinite's favorite songs on Reckoner's third studio album 'Everything X', the band was offered the chance to cover the song by Troy Mascenon himself. Infinite stays true to the original song, and plays it a brutal intensity reminescent of their music on Blue Nebula. The song is very similar to No Remorse; as a result, Quillington sings it the type of barely held-back insanity that made their first album so popular. In the singer's own words, "It's sort of a homeage to our debut album, as well as paying respect to Reckoner. Everything from the string arrangement to the lyrics is fucking brilliant, which made it an incredible experience to cover it. My voice on it sounds like a mixture between myself, Troy, and Thom Yorke... which is probably the best thing I've ever said of myself."

Ciel- Much like 'Problems with Pluto' is representative of Infinite's evolved sound, 'Ciel' shows Greg Oldson's incredible strides as both a lyricist and a drummer. The song is very experimental-sounding, with highly electronified instruments being played in the background. The instruments are so changed and distorted that it's difficult to tell what's playing what. The lyrics, written by the drummer himself, are about a fictional advertisement that's literally selling heaven. The sarcastic tone of it is reminescent of Quillington's lyrics, although Greg manages to make it his own. In many ways, the entire song is his; from the opening drum solo to his lead vocals (his first on an Infinite song).

Best Live Artist: Infinite

[From Infinite's performance on Reckoner's Headling Tour 'All Around the World'. This specific concert occured at Teignmouth]

The driving drumbeat of ‘Teardrops’ by Massive Attack could be heard over the soundsystem. While most in the crowd just figured it to be the next song playing during the wait for the next band, several people in the audience began to have hope that the next band was just about to take the stage. Several of the hardcore Infinite fans in the audience even began to cheer; the band usually walked onstage to this song, so why should tonight be any different?

All the cheers were justified when the lights slowly began to dim, and the rest of the crowd finally joined in. A blonde and impossibly skinny man started to take the stage, and was immediately recognized as Infinite’s front man, Eric Quillington. From Eric’s point of view, he was used to this view… a large crowd of people, waiting to hear music. There was one big difference, though; the people he was staring at weren’t Infinite fans, they were Reckoner fans. He could proudly call himself one of them.

“Hello Teignmouth! Oh, it’s good to be home.” Eric said to the crowd as he wrapped his guitar strap around his neck, “Some of you guys might remember me from my high school days. If it helps to recognize me, I was this conceited asshole. A lot has changed; now I’m an asshole with a band.” As if on cue, Matt Roberts (bassist) and Greg Oldson (drummer) walked onstage. “We’re called Infinite, and you’re going to have to listen to our shitty music for the next half hour.”

As the other two members set up their instruments, Eric played a simple chord melody on the guitar to keep the crowd entertained during the wait. As soon as the two were ready, the band began it’s first song of the night; Falling from the Sky. The song was one of Infinite’s newest songs, and showcased the new direction their music was taking. As the band played, the crowd was transfixed and mesmerized by the dream-like quality of the song. Eric seemed just as hypnotized as the audience in front of him… instead of his usual energetic persona, he was as still as humanly possible. It was obvious that he was pouring all his effort into his voice, and his falsetto singing was benefiting enormously from it. Greg and Matt followed his example, and were playing as reserved and soft-sounding as him.

The song won over any doubters of the band, and the end of the song made most people desperate to see what Infinite would do next. “Alright people,” Eric said while taking off his guitar, “I’m about to do something I promised myself I would never do when I first started this band. Crowd surfing. Please don't kill me.” As Eric leaped from the stage and to the audience, Matt and Greg began to play the drum-and-bass solo 0.9 Pelnav. The fast and heavy-metal sounding song (completely different from Falling from the Sky) drove the crowd into a frenzy. The two of them had to extend the solo a little bit longer to wait for Eric to get back to the stage, but the crowd loved every minute of it. By the time Eric got back to the stage, he was breathless, having the time of his life, and (oddly enough) wearing a different shirt.

“You would not… believe… what I’ve been through to get back to this stage,” Eric said, extremely amused but still gasping for air, “Anyways, I can’t sing in this condition, so we’re going to play a tune from a sci-fi show. Enjoy!!” After Eric adjusted his guitar settings to fit the tone of the song, the band began to play their own version of the Doctor Who Theme. While they couldn’t perfectly match the sound of the theme with a guitar, bass, and drums, they played it close enough that many people in the audience sang along to the famous tune.

“As I said earlier, it’s good to be home!” Eric said to the crowd after the song was over. “Of course, we aren’t as well known as that other band who’s also from here…” The audience cheered loudly, realizing that he was referring to the main band of the night; Reckoner. “Ahhh, you know who I’m talking about, don’t you?” Eric further teased the crowd, prompting even louder cheers.

“Who’s ready for Reckoner?!” Eric yelled, which caused the loudest reaction of the show so far.

“Well, we won’t keep you waiting much longer,” Eric said, in an almost humble tone of voice, “Here’s our final song; a little ditty known as Supernova.” Since this was Infinite’s most well known song (aside from Fusion Paranoia), this caused a cheer almost as loud as the one before it. Throughout the song, the crowd’s singing was just as loud as Eric’s, and he even backed away from the microphone to let them sing the chorus.

As the band began playing the guitar solo outro to Supernova, the band began its actual final ‘song’ of the night. While Eric began by playing the ending guitar solo to Supernova, he soon changed and began to play the solo to Reckoner’s Daydream. For several more minutes, the guitarist played several more of his favorite guitar solos; Muse’s Uprising, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication, etc. Infinite finally ended the melody as Eric played several highly distorted palm mutes reminiscent of Radiohead’s Creep. “Thank you all, you’ve been amazing!” said Greg, saying his first and final words to the audience, “Don’t go anywhere, the best is yet to come!” Infinite walked off the stage amongst cheers of approval from the audience.

Stephanie F. Jhonson: Here are my thoughts on who should win , my opinion.

Best Newcomer:

Out of the list Stacey Walton is one who is most outstanding. I'm shocked Daniel wasn't nominated on the list, since he is in fact a new artist, having only one album out yet. Brittany Knox also seems to be a hot topic and has done great in her field of music.

Best Band:

PANIC! hasn't really been in the scene so I don't understand why they were thrown in the list. Neither has Quarantine. So it all narrows down to "The Bards", "Mind" and "Infinite". I honestly wouldn't know what to pick.

Best Solo Artist (male):

I think Ryan Ross Hernandez has a had a powerful comeback to the music music scene. Music is top notch. Artistically, I don't know about that. I'm on the edge with Daniel as well. "Anti-social" was definitely a powerful unique listen.

Best Solo Artists (female):

I haven't been out as a solo artist, and I don't really have any new music out, so I am shocked to be nominated. I don't think i deserve to win, honestly. I think Brittany Knox has made a huge impact in the scene as a solo artist, therefore she should win. Stacey Walton has also made a huge impact and musically she's one of my favorites.

Best performance in mainstream music:

Once again, I'm shocked to see I was nominated in this category. However if I had to pick one I would pick Ryan Ross Hernandez, Miss Vanity or Jakey Comatose. Where is Mind and Infinite(Who had topped the Radio charts for weeks)?

Best Performance in alternative music:

Not seeing Daniel on here really itches my tit. If i had to pick someone for this category it would be Infinite, for their versatility.

Best Artwork:

Errr.... No comment.

Best Album:

Obviously it would be a tough choice between Infinite and Reckoner.

Best Single:

Reckoner definitely takes this one.

Technical Ecstasy:

Ryan Ross Hernandez most definitely deserves this award.

Best Solo Artist (female):
Since July, Brittany Knox has risen above many stars in the industry today. Since debuting herself as the sexy "wrestler turned singer" all eyes began plugging in on her. Whether it was positive and sometimes negative, every time something was released or announced about Brittany, all eyes turned to see what was next about the blond singer. In August of 2010, her very much anticipated album, "Mannequin" (Up for two awards at the Chaos Awards) became one of the most controversial and critically mixed reviewed album of the year. Some people loved the album and some hated it. Whether or not, the album proved to be a commercial success succeeding a platinum status in the U.S and the U.K and having 3 singles all debuting in the top 10 of the top 20 airplay chart. Becoming a bonafide superstar by then, she has since teamed up with the likes of Miss Vanity, Matty, Lukey Comatose and some more on collaborations and they all saw Brittany as one of the biggest highlights of 2010 as well being a stand out in her musical field all around. However, Brittany did receive some heavy scrutiny following her debut album about her sexed up image and the album itself. In October of 2010, Brittany took a break from music to go on a recording vacation and came back with a better image and a different and pure sound that has since been getting some rave reviews and this is only pushing Brittany in the direction of more fame at only 24 years old. Perhaps one of the most sought after and controversial acts of 2010, Brittany can be considered as one of the best new and solo acts of 2010.

Leather Love (Single)

Quote:
Whats with the cover of the single?!
The whole point was to be kinky and I had the whole leather aspect in mind. I wanted it to be very promiscuous and sexy and I wanted people to be like "what the hell?" when they saw it. I also had the whole dominatrix makeup on and it looks nothing like me. Had on these beautiful blue contacts the Marilyn Monroe -esque lip stick, achromatic concealer and much more but as many will see, the leather chain across my mouth haha! I guess I'm loving it! - August 2010

Very well, very well. Talk about the album cover first, before all the juicy stuff. What is the concept behind the album cover work ?
Hm, well I wanted something very sexy and sweet but not over the top so my team just thought it would be really cool to have me in the center in a pink halter keeping it sexy and playful with pink spatter all over, hehe, I love pink, but anyway have pink spatter all over the cover and with dancing mannequins with some of them having no head. I thought it was very simple yet sexy and captivating. - August 2010

All About "Mannequin" - Out in stores NOW!

UserPostedImage

In preparation for the DEBUT album of quick time anticipation artist, Brittany Knox' which is set to be out in stores August 12th, an interview was set up with our pop star before anyone else could scoop her up for an interview. This interview was directly made for her to talk about the recording process, track list and other aspects of her career that has to do with the turn out of "Mannequin". We also let our fans let in on the interview and send in some of their juicy questions for our Blonde Bombshell. But by no further or do : "All About Mannequin with www.allaboutalbums.com

Now before we star I just wanna say thank you very much Miss Brittany Knox for choosing All About Music as an interview choice right before the release of your album, it is truly an honor to have you here.
Aw, not a problem! But I had to chose All About Music, before all of this happened with my career I used to always go to the site and click around reading about all the albums and I cannot believe Im sitting here before all of you guys talking about my album!

I didn't want the fans to look at it and be like WTF? I wanted them to be like "Oh, its Brittany, still being sexy" and with the album cover I've gotten that.

Talk about the album name, Mannequin, whats behind that for an album name?
Well I had A LOT of names that I couldn't come up with one! After thinking and thinking and finally becoming over my indecisiveness, I came up with mannequin. I chose Mannequin as the name because when you become famous and you just start launching as a household name you are going through constant changes in your life, people in the business do so much to change the person that you are that in the end quite frankly you feel like a mannequin. And I'm not going to lie, I did feel like that just not to long ago but I had to tell myself people can change me but I'm not going to change myself just like a mannequin. So I pretty much thought I could relate with that title the most so I went with it. In another light I thought I should go with Mannequin because Mannequins at a store are usually the center of attention and when you become famous you kind of feel like everyone watching and all you can do is stand their and do what you gotta do, you ARE the main attraction.

So it wasn't just a typical "pop album" name...
Oh gosh no. The title actually had something to do with me. I just didn't use the name because I liked it. I did it so my first album could be special to me in a way. People have mistaken it just as a pop title name that I thought sounded good, but really it wasn't, at all.

Understood, although you co wrote all the tracks on the album as well as being the executive producer for it too, talk about some of the songwriters and producers you collaborated with on the album
Wow, I had a blast working with all the writers and producers I worked with for the album. Terrius Stash and Ricky Stewart REALLY stood out to me because 3 of my favorite songs on the album they produced, so I'll definitely be working with them later in my career. Carmelo Andrews and Michelle Morrow were great also stood by me in the studio because I was all new to it and they pretty much are super perfectionists! I would have the longest studio sessions with them because they DO NOT let go until their song is perfect, but its always great to have the song at perfection! The Wolverines were amazing to work with, complete clowns, they made the atmosphere in the studio comfortable and un stale and boring which makes the recording process better, they really would lighten me up if I'm in a bad mood during a studio session with them. Camille Bash, Johnny Ronson became close friends of mine after this and Melody Mel, Mr. Duke and Anthony Loco were among the rest and they all produce very, very well and I was so happy to have them on board! All of my producers had faith in me and kept saying "this is a hit, this is a hit" and I'd just smile and thank them. I love encouragement more then anything, especially when your life has completely made a twist. My writers, them too, my writers were absolutely gifted. I learned much more about writing after writing for this album with all the writers I had on board Ginger Conrad and Cornelius Palmerston who wrote Leather Love with me but very sexy and fun, we would sit down for hours and write the song and Leather Love is a pretty sensual song so we would just laugh and tell stories while writing all together. Amazing atmosphere. But there were many writers on the album and they pretty much all taught me something in a way because they were so different but still all the same, its really weird but at most, inspiring.

Did you write and record all this music close to home, or while traveling?
I did this all over, U.S, I was in Canada working in an amazing studio, then in the U.K and back to the U.S where I finished the album. I never stopped writing. I had enough material for a lengthy album and it was quite the.....interesting experience (laughs)

How would you describe this album?
I would describe this album as a futuristic roller coaster from my heart, mind, and soul literally. Most of the tracks came from my personal experiences ....or personal fantasies (laughs). It wasn't anything like hey, I wanna write about this and that. While traveling and moving around different things had to inspire me to start writing on that track or a mood or feeling that I felt. I can go on a total mind block unless I'm inspired but the good thing is im usually inspired fast and I always have ideas flowing in my mind. I also would like to call the album fun, edgy and of course sexy. There's all elements of the album where you could have fun to, it sounds edgy and its a very sexy and glam album. Much like I like to describe myself (laughs) no, my music for the most part.

What does the single Leather Love represent, were you inspired by this song in anyway?
Leather Love is a song about a female who has a really, really bad relationship with a male but the sexual aspect of the relationship makes her love him and even though they keep arguing and fighting she keeps coming back sorta like she hooked roughness of the relationship in a way thats why I used Leather. I mean, I'm not going to say if I could relate to it but I was inspired to write the song by watching a movie. Not going to say which one but heh, it definitely make a great song! And its doing very well by the way. Very happy with that news.

Is there a specific track on the album thats special to you?
ALL the tracks on the album are special to me in their own way. All of them came from my heart once again but I wrote a track called "Gone" that I really really think was beautiful. It was a ballad produced Dr Luke and it really really connects to me because It brought me back to a time where I was going through a very tough time in my life and just going there again was so tough but it pushed out an amazing and such a beautiful song. No computer work on my voice, it was raw. Which I thought was great for all my fans to hear. No extra computer generated tools just me and my voice..

How was it doing the features on the album?
The features were probably my favorite thing about the album, although I had only two features, the two features really meant a lot to me. Iconoclastia was a blast doing, Miss Vanity and I REALLY, REALLY had fun with the song and I was so inspired by her character, her presents and her talent. She really taught me about who I am as an artist, not to really worry about what people are saying about you, to just do what you love and that really meant something to me. Miss Vanity and I had so many ideas going into the studio and I was really nervous working with someone who has always been someone I looked up to but once we got in the studio we had a blast writing and recording the song. Its really a dancy song and the title has everyone questioning with the song is about because NO one knows what Iconoclastia means. But, I'm sure we'll get to it hehe. I was just so thankful to have Miss Vanity in the studio and just happy to work with me. Everyone loves to call Miss Vanity the pop icon of today and me the pop icon of tomorrow. Its really something we sorta laughed at because its a compliment on both parts. With the second feature All the Love, it was really cool to have Lukey Comatose break out of his band and work on my song. Lukey is such a jokester and it was really fun to work with him. His voice was really stunning and it fit with the male voice I needed for the song. It was a blast working with him as well.

Nice, now, with all the positive energy surrounding the album there's also a negative energy that is seen here too in the media, what do you think about that?
I mean everywhere you go you'll get negative energy , everyone had to hear what I said about me being an artist and me being not being generic, I'm not going to even comment on that anymore because its pointless. I know I have talent, I produce my music, write it and sing it. I do what I love, I work for my fans that's all i care about, I do not wish to speak upon people who makes comment, it doesn't matter. And with my boss H.P, I'm not going to speak on that either. What I'm worrying about is the success of my album and whatever happens, happens. I am thankful of H.P for the fact of that matter that i do have a label that gives me a freedom and is giving me the backup to release my album instead of independently....

What could you say to the people who buy the album
What I can say is, they need to be ready for a electronic and raw ride of fun, deepness and love and I worked SO hard on this album and i want to prove to people that all the buzz and anticipation will pay off, and for the people who just want to buy it to trash it, hey, its giving me more sales (laughs).

PT 2 - SONG Synopsis

Mannequin (3:24)
Mannequin was an electronic track I wrote all by myself. It is very glam and its about me and my transformation from a normal girl to a literal walking Mannequin. Like I said earlier, a lot of things change and people try to change you and you have no time and no say so as to what you want for yourself, and even if you do express your feelings things usually don't turn out your way. Its very synth and dance and its the first track off of the album and its starts off the right way and gets our listeners ready for such an amazing roller coaster.

2. Distortion (3:10)
Distortion was a track I wrote with Ginger Conrad about a very sexy dream, between you and someone your fantasizing about and it has a very "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These" sound to it. Sort of sounds like an evil track, but really its sexy and definately 18 and older for this track.

3. Leather Love (3:26)
Leather Love! My first single off the album, this song was actually the funnest to write and work with because its just so catchy and you could just dance to it and maybe thats the reason why the single is doing so well. Like I said a million times before Leather Love is a song that I wrote about a female who is in a terrible relationship but just cant stand to leave because the loving that they engage in is just too addictive for her to move on. very fun writing process, as well as recording process and in the end, of course, I got a very fun song.

4. Alter-Ego (4:00)
Alter-Ego was a track that I kind of had to dig in myself for. When I wrote it I had to write it using two sides of myself. The charming and pretty Brittany and the clubbing and sexy Brittany that a lot of people don't see, and with this song, it kind of reveals the other sexy, seductive and edgy side of me. The song pretty much starts off calm and collective but when my alter - ego "Brit" steps up, the heat turns up. This was a very fun dance track to do and a lot of girls can relate to it because alot of girls have their cute and charming side that everyone gets to see, but behind closed doors that girl can really be different! Hahaha!

5. Lust (3:20)
Lust was the first ballad off of the album produced by Dr Duke. He produces music very, very well and he knows what hes doing. The slow track is about lust or the passion you feel for another person, it is such a beautiful track and my vocals were pushed to the limit with this one. But I know the fans will love it.

6. Iconoclastia ft. Miss Vanity (3:24)
Iconoclastia - I'm FINALLY going to answer everyone's question, Iconoclastia is a word that was made up by Miss Vanity and I respectively, and it's a sickness new stars catch. Not an ACTUAL sickness obviously but when things are picking up to fast and you think to yourself "Shit, my life has changed, this is too much." Or you realzise you cant walk outside or your afraid or just not allowed to walk out alone because of all the paps and fans, Your suffering from Iconoclastia because your on your way to become an icon of some sort and your kinda fumbled up with how fast your life is changing. This song I must say, stood out the mos to me because its over the top, its catchy and its definitely a club banger! When the product was finish, we played the song and literally everyone started bopping their head and dancing to it. Miss Vanity took a huge part in the production of the song and made it sound less like her and more of a new sound that I guess shes giving me! I learned a lot from her with this song and I would love to work with her again. I was completely flattered with how much faith she had in me in becoming the next big star and it really encouraged me to go much stronger on this track. The turnout was amazing.

7. Lights Off (3:15)
Lights off was another one of the many songs on the album that I love. Its very futuristic sounding. Its about being in a club, dancing and when the lights go off you don't know who your dancing with but your still dancing because your having such a good time. Its funny because when I used to party, that always used to happen to me. I HAD to write a track about it because its very strange, but fun at the same time.

8. Barbie Doll (3:30)
Barbie Doll was a very personal track. In the track I sang "I'm not your barbie doll, you cant pull me apart and throw me to the side and not expect me not to keep that smile on my face". I incorporated that in the track for a reason too. Everyone who doubts me and thinks that im nothing, just wanna chew me up, rip me apart and hurt me but in the end that stuff doesn't bother me, I'm going to keep the same smile on my face that I have on while im performing live on stage. The song is dedicated to all the people who think im nothing who just think they can break me apart like a barbie doll. Very controversial track that your going to have to listen to over and over again to get what exactly im talking about, although its obvious.

9. All The Love ft. Lukey Comatose (4:46)
All the love is a mid ballad about complete love! Lukey Comatose did an amazing job on the track and even helped write the song alone. Its a very catchy ballad that is an actual ballad but with some fast paced synth beats.

10.Dreamer (3:34)
Dreamer is such an adorable track that I wrote, and one that I can relate to as well. Its about a female and a male who break up but deep, deep down inside that person has a place in each others hearts. Its a great track and I love my vocals on it. Michelle Murrows really worked her magic on this track because at first I hated it, but with a few changes in the end I was like OMG, I love it!

11.Gone (4:00)
Probably the most deepest and closest song to my heart. This ballad in strictly with the piano and the beat. No computer generated riffs, no work on my voice. Just my singing. I thought it would be good for this song because at one point in my life I felt like everything was gone because of a guy and in this song I literally let it all out. My vocals were pushed to the limit and weight was on my back having been known for fast paced music, i definitely slowed it down and really brought out my vocal chords with this one. Many people are going to fall in love with this song and be shocked by my emotion and vocal delivery and Danny Allen really taught me something new about myself with this song. He taught me that to pull out an amazing ballad all you need is the emotion and I literally almost fell in tears while recording this song and it really came out as an amazing ballad, really, it was a very special track for me.

12. Ready For Me (3:45)
The last track on the album and the ending of the roller coaster, Ready For Me, titled exactly after what I say in the song. I simply ask the listeners are they ready for me. This track was very fun to write with my writers. Its about me suiting up for my career as a star and telling what I will do and what Im proving to my fans. I cant spill it all out though, it ill be heard when you pick up the album on the 12th.

Michelle Green

Best Solo Artist (Female)
Most 16 year old girls at this time are enjoying their freshman, sophomore years in High School, however this blond headed vocal powerhouse, Michelle Green is enjoying her time at the top of the Top 20 charts and charts all over the world. At just 16 and being in the musical industry for about 5 months, this folk music making female already has already made a #1 Top Airplay Hit. Releasing her first single "Fifteen" about coming of age and believing in yourself in August. It peaked at # 2 on the Airplay Chart which isn't common for a debut single - that single went on to go Platinum In the U.K months later. Following the success of "Fifteen" her next single released was "Dark Days" in September and guess what? That single shot to #1 on the Top Airplay chart making Michelle Green one of the only females in the music industry to have her debut and sophomore singles debut in the top two of that chart. She also recived a critical acclaim for her debut album The Voice of Me which is pure Alternative Pop, Folk, and Folk Rock music which people have grown to love. Another thing people have grown to love is Michelle's voice, running into collaborations with The Bards, Stacey Walton and Matty.

Best Solo Artist (male):

Ryan Ross Hernandez

Best performance in mainstream music:

Ryan Ross Hernandez; Has had released two commercially and critically successful albums, combining in over 12.2 million copies sold in the United States alone, with an additional 3.8 million records sold in the rest of the world. Both albums produced at least three hit singles each, four of which topped the US Hot 100 singles charts, including the hit single off of Dark Secret Love, "A Never-Ending Trip to Heartbreak", which won him a Birdie/IMA award for best single.

Best Single:

"A Never Ending Trip To Heartbreak" - Ryan Ross Hernandez
Peak Charting: USA #1, Europe #3, Australia & New Zealand #30, Canada #54

Lyrical Meaning

"The opening track off the Dark Secret Love album, and I think it was like the second or third song I wrote for the record. After I had written it I knew I had a direction for the record. It sort of brought together, very cohesively, what I was trying to achieve with the idea of heartbreak and love, sort-of bringing that war feel to a heartbreak. When you can't get through to somebody by loving them, the next choice is to get through to them hurting them and that is what A Never-Ending Trip to Heartbreak, is about. I don't recommend it. I'd recommend full on global thermal nuclear war, before I'd recommend trying to make a lady jealous on purpose. It doesn't end well. A Never-Ending Trip to Heartbreak, is the language of hurt. Some people just speak hurt. And it's even worse when you're in a relationship, if you could even call it that, where both people in it are always trying to one-up the other."

Music and structure

The song marked some changes from the music that Ryan Ross Hernandez was known for, which was the soft blues influence in his previous albums. Songs like this song from Dark Secret Love, along with "All You Need Is Love Is a Lie" and "Fight On Until the Darkness Over Takes Us" went more towards Hernandez's more rock-oriented sound, which he showed more on Dark Secret Love.

Musically, the guitar riff and overall sound are very similar to the U2 song "Bad". Hernandez has admitted that while "A Never-Ending Trip to Heartbreak," may in fact resemble "Bad", he was not intentionally referencing it while composing his song.

"The Half-Hearted Lover" - Ryan Ross Hernandez
Peak Charting: To Be Determined

Lyrical Meaning + Music and Structure

"It's my 'I wish I was born in the seventies ode, living in Laurel Canyon in LA', this is the song I would have written, if I had grown up listening to Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac. It's about the complexity of where a lot of people are in their life right now. Where they're trying to figure out how much room they have to give another person. This song is sort of the self-study of not being sure and being of split-mind and heart. Right now I'm twenty-five, and I wanna run! I'm running! It's one of the most honest songs, lyrical songs on the record. It describes my feelings on love, pretty much to the point. It's not putting how I feel into a certain language of a song. It's pretty much how I feel."

Possessing a slight country tone, it's a perfect blend of Hernandez's past work into an excellent pop song, and the female harmony vocals behind him, make Ryan sound like some kind of powerhouse without ever trying to force his falsetto vocals. Hernandez churns out a rustic, Tom Petty two-note motif surrounded by a pleasant pop jangle to create one of the most single-ready songs on the record veering stylistically between glossy modern blues and, well, glossy modern pop; here his intent is to channel the sunny, clear (and resurgently fashionable) radio-friendly sounds of Fleetwood Mac or Tom Petty. Lyrically, Ryan is engrossed with his interpersonal struggles. Even he doesn't know where he's headed. On the lead single, the twenty-five-year-old confesses his halfhearted intents when it comes to love, and his inability of fully devoting his time to another person. Hernandez is still as quizzical and pensive as ever, but he has never been more immersed in the spotlight whilst doing so. Ryan proves on, The Halfhearted Lover, that he can still wield a guitar like a fifth limb, fashion catchy hooks or howl a quivering, feel-good falsetto just as well, or even better than he could two years ago. The single sounds just as terrific when Hernandez drops the seriousness, pondering and sending up his reputation as a rake; portraying the dude who kisses with one eye open, scanning for his next conquest. Lyrical brooding aside, the music stirs everything from subtle country twangs to bluesy licks and simple pop melodies to accompany a chorus that is sure to be stuck in your head after first listen. The Halfhearted Lover, solidifies Hernandez as an artist who can appeal to sixteen year old teenagers with high school love drama, just as much as housewives in their forties who's husbands don't spend enough time with them, and every woman demography between them.

Personality:

Ryan Ross Hernandez; is there really a need for an explanation here? I think not. And if you do read any of his interviews.

Icon Award:

Ryan Ross Hernandez; He is considered one of the biggest and most influential artist of the twenty-first century. His known for single handedly bringing back blues music into the mainstream successful market and his artistic genre diversity that range from rock, pop, blues-rock, jazz, soul, and even small hints of country, have landed him major success with fans of all ages and musical tastes, even receiving praise from some of today's biggest rock and metal acts. His approach to making music is somewhat uncommon, as he is known for taking prolonged times to write albums, never forcing out songs and letting them come naturally to him. His songwriting is as real and raw as anything you'll ever hear sung out by his soft falsetto or his low tenor vocals and even breaks out from those vocal ranges to higher or lower ones depending on the lyrical progression. Also a unique style he has is building upon his music around the lyrics first and foremost then works on the composing of it on acoustic guitar later on. Despite only playing guitar on his albums, beforehand he demos his songs on guitar, piano, synthesizer, drum machines, vibraphone and omnichord, giving them to his respective backing instrumentalists for them to work around that. Additionally to his own solo work, he has collaborated with the big name likes of Jakey Comatose, Raven Comatose, Stephanie Fierce, Alicia Lena, Miss Vanity, and Regan Futrell, among others. And has done production work for Reckoner, PANIC! and Alicia Lena. He's a six-time IMA/Birdies winner.

Technical Ecstasy:

Ryan Ross Hernandez; He has gained a distinction as an accomplished guitarist over the course of his career, Rolling Stone named him one of this generations "New Guitar Gods" and compared his guitar playing to one of his idols Eric Clapton. His guitar playing skills have ranged from simplistic pop rock and acoustic rock chords in his debut album, to bluesy guitar licks including extended jam session during live concerts, to laidback soulful progressions and pretty much anything in between. Hernandez has even admitted in the past that he is able to hear a song only once and be able to cover it on guitar perfectly. His guitar playing ability ranges from a wide range of genres, referring to himself as a "learned musician, natural songwriter, and singer by luck". In one interview he even went as far as saying, "Listen, I can play you Wes Montgomery's Smokin' at the Half Note. I can play you Van Halen's 'Panama. But at the end of the day I'd rather play you Sting's If You Love Somebody Set Them Free or Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight. I'd rather rock-your-ass for four minutes than rock-your-ass for four then bore you out for another six. I can rock-the-fuck-out. I can jam as good as my guitar idols. If I was just a guitarist I would get a fifteen minute guitar solo down on tape, but I'm not so I know what people want to listen from me before they even do."

(note: I'm not plugging PANIC!'s nominations since they (I) don't deserve to win any award with them since I haven't roleplayed them this entire year, aside on maybe one or two occasions.)

Best Artwork - Blood Of Wecz - Memories of Atheism Past double sleeve special edition -

UserPostedImageUserPostedImage

Blood Of Wecz released this special edition double sleeved artwork as a celebration of their fifteenth studio album. The album was a concept album, which took the listener through the journey of a life of an atheist, and all the sins that he commited in life without fear of retribution, before, finally, on his deathbed, he starts to fear whether he will end up in eaven or hell, and despair at how he has lived his life.

The special edition heaven and hell double sleeves were devised from this concept, and showed that Wecz are willing, even 20 years later, to do something new.

ICON AWARD - Blood Of Wecz -

Blood of Wecz have been touring since the release of their first album, "Price to Pay", over 20 years ago. The band have played in almost every country in the world, and have embarked on some memorable tours, and have also played almost every big festival that has ever been concieved, as well as being one of the innovators of the hugely acclaimed "Chaos for Cancer" festival, which raised copious amounts of money for charity, back in the 2 years it ran.

Having toured with bands like fAthOm, Skullkrusher and Sanitary Towel, way back in the day, Wecz have shown that they are up there with the very best that this industry has ever had to offer. And now, they can cite bands such as Mind, Hellspawn, Infinite, Junkhead and others amongst those that count them as influences. Jason Smith of Mind has even been quoted as playing the band's "Price to Pay" signature track as the ringtone on his mobile phone.

Despite losing their lead singer, Scott H, to murder, in May of this year, Wecz have recently decided to come back, and are still at the height of their fame, announcing a tour with Mind and Infinite as support, as they hit the four corners of the world.

They have also announced that they will re-enter the studio later this month, and commence work on a 16th studio release.

BEST LIVE ACT - Blood of Wecz

As above...Blood of Wecz have played many tours, and with many of the top bands in the world...most importantly however, they were seen as the best live band by the public, as they were voted WINNERS of the Delta Tau Battle of The Bands 4, seeing off bands such as Reckoner and Mind in the final of the competition.

BEST MOMENT - Scott H death

Perhaps this was the most saddening moment of the RSG year, as iconic frontman Scott H, of Blood Of Wecz, was shot dead on top of an abandoned building in Philedelphia, USA. Read the death RP and the documentary RP for more info please :D

SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE INDUSTRY - Scott - CHAOS MAGAZINE

Chaos Magazine has, so far, seen 2 released issues. The magazine has been hugely acclaimed by readers and has a massive circulation. Featuring interviews, reviews, news, and other feature articles, as well as some top notch graphic design, the magazine has taken the industry to a new level of excitement.

OOC: The Chaos mag RP is the thing in RP, in my five years playing, that I am most proud of. It takes me hours to do it, searching for pics and stuff over the web, writing the articles (thanks to Infinite for the immeasurable help on this front, as well as the interviewees) and of course, putting it all together. But it is all worth it when I see the sort of amazing feedback I have been getting.)
