News:
11.17.10: Openers announced. In case you missed it CTS performed at the Chaos Awards debuting two new songs. "Gloomface" and "One Thousand & One Nights" which both will be on the new album Revenant of Solitudes. We had to push the release date up.
It will now be out on November 30th and Gloomface will be released on the 23rd of November. Album took a little more time to mix then I thought it would but it is all taken care of and it sounds great. We just got done listening to it last night and I love it! Jakey did the keys on this record which came out fantastic and just brong back memories we had with Luna. Enough of that though my brother Nick Futrell will be playing keys live for us on tour. Thats pretty cool. Can't wait for the tour and can't wait for all of you to hear this new album!

Biography:
Casting Thin Shadows came together after Regan met John Smith at a Smashing Pumpkins concert. They both had the same taste and ambition for music and decided to form a band. The first member to join was John Smiths younger brother Marcy Smith. After he joined he knew a keyboard player that was a female and her name was Luna Star. Marcy also started dating her when the band got signed to Eventual Records. Sinca Monte was the next one to join after he met Marcy through Luna. Then Dante joined after being offered the position because he was in another band that recently broke up in New York called White Sparrows which was a goth rock band like Casting Thin Shadows. The band recorded a demo album that was called "The Crucifiction" which challenged the Bible as to being nothing but "make believe" stories. The band had influences from Smashing Pumpkins, Ministry, My Bloody Valentine, and The Cure. After they toured on the east coast they released the second demo album trying to catch attention titled "Tales From The Wicked" whcih was an album about nothing but war and losing people you loved so much. With this album they caught the attention of the new label owner of Eventual Records Lino. He immediately signed the band for a three album deal that ended up being a life time deal and a negotiable contract. The band recorded it's first album for Eventual whcih was "Nightcrawler" the album was influecned by The Cures "Disitergration" very much and became a fan favorite and a classic for the bands discography. The band went on world tours and released album after album until after the double album "666/777" whcih was two albums one being about hell and one being about heaven. John Smith has been quoted to say that this album was the begginning of the end for the band. John said not only was Regan heavily involved with drugs but so was Marcy, Sinca(Got kicked out during recording of this album because it got outta hand with him), and himself. Dante and Luna were the only clean members of the band at the time. Sinca was kicked out for his drug problem that got way outta hand according to the band and was replaced by Regans cousin Alan Kidd on drums. The band recorded its next album "Fate, Faith, Fatality". The band recorded their best album when they thought the album was going to do so poorly. Regan thought that this album would be the end of the band because they have now gained millions of fans because of how big they have became. Arguements happened every day during the recording of the album and random mood swings from almost everyone in the band was also a huge downstep. The band seeked help from the man who found the band Lino. The band listened to everything he had to say and completed recording the new album "Fate, Faith, Fatality" after nearly breaking up. After the band went on tour however John Smith decided to leave the band to focous on his new solo career "In The Arms of Sleep". The band immediately replaced him with the guitarist from the recently broken up Fear who was Paul Reeves. The band went straight into the studio and Regan was being criticized at the time that he can only write good songs with John and if it wasn't for him and Marcy the band would most likely not be as big as it was. Regan became frustrated with these negative marks he kept getting but tend to ignore them while recording the album "Light The Candles" which was a bit more popish than their other albums. The band went on tour and then decided they wanted to break away from Eventual and try other labels out. This caused controversory between Regan and Lino. They both went from being best friends to hating each other. Regan ignored it and the band signed to the metal label "Negative Records" and released the raw album "Whispers". After Whispers was released Regan still kept getting negative comments that he can't write good songs without John, Marcy, or Paul playing the guitar with him after recently releasing two albums with his supergroup Regan formed called A Static Theory. This was the true downfall of such a great band. Paul left the band to go play in Fear again who recently regrouped. Marcy left to focus on raising a family with his wife and 2 kids. Luna decided to go underground and produce indie bands music and DJ in London. So the band was left to a trio. Regan, Alan, and Dante. Regan went into the studio orginally recording as a new band and their debut album but Regan was talked out of that from his good friend Raven from Thunderwolf so he kept it as a Casting Thin Shadows album. The album ended up being "Requiem" and Regan wrote all the songs with Dante and Alan. He wrote every guitar part, keyboard part, piano part, and all the lyrics. Critics praised him with sayings such as "Regan could keep Casting Thin Shadows as a trio and they would still be just as good as a 6-man band." After this Marcy rejoined the band and made the band into a four-piece band. They recorded the collaboration album they did with some artists called "One Funeral A Maketh" which ended up being their highest selling album. With Casting Thin Shadows back on top Regan asked John if he wanted his spot back and he declined but Luna rejoined on tour during the One City A Maketh world tour they did. After this the band decided they were gonna try an electronic guitar based album which ended up being one of their lowest album sales to date. The name of the album was "Translations" and it was released on the label Regan had formed by himself called "Insomnia Records". After this album the band went on hiatus. Regan and Alan were forming a new side project which ended up being a band which was Quarantine. John became a full time music producer and has promised new In The Arms of Sleep material but still hasn't released any. Marcy went on helping Alex Sin with his solo career. Luna went back DJing. Dante went to take a break from music. After this hiatus was up the band regrouped and recorded what was to be their final album "The Golden Bough". The band had help from two friends on the album. Raven Comatose and Jakey Comatose. The album was a return to fame for Casting Thin Shadows they went on a world tour until some tradegy happened. Luna Star was found dead on their tour bus and the band immediately cancled the rest of the tour after trying to go through with a couple of the shows. Regan said it was the darkest hour of his life and after this the band decided to just end the band. But now the band has regrouped and have recorded a 14th studio album without a keyboardist which leaves the band as a 5-piece band for the third time instead of a 6-piece band which has been their signature image for years now. Keyboarding duties were performed by close friend Jakey Comatose on the new album and will be handled by Nick Futrell live.

The truth behind why the band will be doing a final album, and why they went on hiatus for a while.

Alan Kidd was quoted for saying this about explaining why the band went on a hiatus, and why this will be their final album and final tour:

"First, I will explain why we went on a hiatus. We went on a hiatus because we didn't know if we were gonna do another record or not. We were demoing up for the next album then all of a sudden it was like everything got to our heads. We were constantly fighting and disagreeing over everything. Regan and I were looking for more of an experimental sound to go into while Marcy was looking for some goth rock, and while Dante thought we should go back to our first albums sound. Luna really didn't have a part in of how we should sound she said she was comfortable with anything. Well finally Regan got pissed off and smashed his guitar into the mixing room destroying the studio basically. So he left and I followed. We didn't talk to Marcy, Luna, or Dante for at least a year. Regan told me the reason behind his anger is how frustrated he was getting that he couldn't get John(Marcys brother) back into the bad. The two use to be best friends and both started the band together. John wouldn't accept since he didn't care for Regan no more and plus was busy with his solo career under the name of In The Arms Of Sleep. So me and Regan went onto form Quarantine. Finally I happen to bump into Marcy one day and started talking to him again. He was working with his brother and Paul Reeves on a new band called The Waiting Room. He said that Dante was going to be a touring bassist and that he had no idea what Luna was doing. Well Regan came over one day while he was over and the two got back to being friends. After this they set up a band meeting to discuss the bands future. At first it would be just a 13 day gig to play all of our albums each day in our hometown. Then it was letting Aftermath being our last performance. Finally we came up with the idea of getting John to join back in for a final album and a final tour. It wasn't easy. He said he would only do it for the fans, not because of Regan. So here we are. Writing a new album. We are calling it quits because we all feel like it is just time for us to move on. We got our point across that we wanted to reach. We've sold over 30 million albums, and toured to over a thousand sold out stadiums. We've seen the world and we feel accomplished. Also we feel very honored to have the fans, family, and close friends that we have. We also like to thank Mike Williams each and everyday. He may be dead, but if it wasn't for opening for Won't Be Denied we would've never gotten the inspiration that he gave us after meeting him. This fall, our last album will not disappoint you I guarantee it."

Just thought I should let everyone know why we our calling it quits.

Tour dates to be up real soon! Like if not this weekend then next week sometime. We can not expressed how happy we are to return on stage to perform to all of you. Even if it is going to be our last world tour, you just don't know how we feel. We have 2 new songs written which sound incredible. One is called "Public Enemies", and the other is a remake of an old B-Side off of one of our albums which was called "Athiest Rock" now it will be called "The Fountain". This album has a very spiritual side we've never brong out of us. With over 20 songs written, this abum is defintly our best. There is something there for everone. Can't wait for you to hear it. Till next time.

Recording indeed begin the other day. While Regan and Alan are finishing a tour over in the UK the others are already in the studio recording. The album title will be "The Golden Brough". It will represent a theme of being lost and never finding your way back. It deals a lot with religion, the supernatural, death, and love. Mostly the supernatural and death though. Can't wait to show you all what's in stored.

If you haven't heard, the openers for The Phoenix and the Bronze world tour are:
Final Heaven
This Comatose
PANIC!(Only one European and USA dates)
Moronic Changeling

...and one more TBA.

These are not the only dates we will be playing for our tour. We will announce another leg of dates at a different time. Also we will announce a farewell show which will be held in Roanoke Rapids, NC for when our tour will be up.

The band speaks about the tour:

"Through the years if you have stuck with us since our first demo album "The Crucifiction" then you should know we have always tried to keep our fans moving in the crowd. It has always been our goal to just go on stage and rock the fuck out. Now we care about peoples health and didn't want them to get hurt BUT that doesn't mean we've never wanted to see our audiences jumping around having a blast! We've seen the world, and we know how crazy everyone can get out there. This time around we promise to be the BEST live band anyone has seen. We will be playing a lot of songs from the upcoming album on the world tour. The US tour we have planned out in July we will be playing more of a greatest hits setlist. But on the world tour we will be debuting new songs, and also on our tour in July doesn't mean we won't give some of you a sneak peek of some songs off the record. ;) We will play maybe 1-3 songs off of it in July but other then that it will be more of a greatest hits setlist. We have an amazing tour coming up. And we couldn't find any other bands we would be satisfied to open up with us. :) I truely mean that. These bands opening up for us have been some of our closest friends and we love them all to death. That is all.

Love,
Casting Thin Shadows"

We've been doing nothing but recording, recording, and recording! Regan and Alan finally get to enter the studio in 4 days. They've sent us some of their work but they won't officially be recording until this week. We are so proud of the way it's turning out. It's a great way to end a band IMO. We are looking to conqur the IMA's this year. We are looking to be nominated for Best Live Act and Best Band so all of you Shadow Believers out there vote for us! Please! I'll update you all soon.
-Marcy Smith

If you haven't heard Billy Madison has been announced as the last opener for our final world tour.

Day 44 in the Abyss aka the studio.
We have some songs recorded. We might decide to put out a little special E.P. before we hop on tour July 1st. But that's for a different time to discuss. If you missed the Birdies then you missed the premeire of 3 new tracks from the record. We debuted the first single "Public Enemies", then "American Werewolves", and last "The Mangler". This album is coming along really good fo sho. Supernatural is the theme for sure. As is religion. This album has some of our defining moments in our careers. We are trying to end our band with a bang. "Public Enemies" is due for a radio release on July 17th by the way. We are about 89% into the album. I'll update you all later.

Later,
Dante Holmes

Album has been completed!

"It is good to let all of you know that our best album we've ever done and anything musically we have ever done is complete. The Golden Bough takes you into a deep, deep, realllllll deep, mystical place. The sound is beyond anything we have all ever done or been apart of. Every song is like perfect to us. We can't wait for you to hear this and the album will be released on August 18th. Also we are trying to release a live album before we call it quits and we DO plan on extending the world tour dates so don't be sad! We also have a huge tour we are in the talks with an amazing band that has decided to come back and tour. I just wanted to let you all know we are rehearsing to perfect these songs live. Just thought I would let everyone know what the deal is. This is only the beginning of the end.

Love,
Regan, John, Alan, Luna, Marcy, and Dante."

We start touring tomorrow. We're gonna set up a little tour diary right here to update you all. Also like to mention we will be debuting 3 or 4 new songs. Other than that this is an old school setlist we are gonna be playing aka greatest hits setlist. When we start the "Phoenix and The Bronze" world tour we will be playing more of the new songs. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

P.S. Regan released his solo album today. It's great, go pick it up!

Love,
Dante Holmes

Haven't updated this any but our tour with archaic couture. and others has been going great. We've only played 3 new songs on this tour. Most of the setlist has been nothing but a "Greatest Hits" setlist. But once we go on our world tour we will be playing a lot of new songs on the tour. Even ones that didn't make the new album! The first single "Public Enemies" has been pushed back to July 23rd also. Artwork will be avaliable soon. Well just thought I would update everyone.

Love,
Alan Kidd
