’Alexis Brooke Grey’ (Born October 30, 1995) is an American recording artist known as part of the highly successful girl group ‘SYNCO’, primarily known to fans under her adopted name as Alex Grey, she now records under the name ‘Alexis Brooke’ as a solo artist. As part of the girl group, Alexis became an established member of the industry alongside the girls, with a string of hit singles to their name and three studio albums equating to over 8.5 million album sales, they were considered one of the most successful girl groups of the time. However, their final release came in 2016 with the single “I’m Coming” which boasted over 3.5 million sales worldwide, meaning the group came to an end at the very top of their game.
Despite never being announced as an official breakup, the girls haven’t worked together since that final 2016 single and the group saw a re-launch of their official website as a four piece following the departure of Layla Sanchez, however the re-launched never emanated into any major work from the group and has seemingly been put on the back burner by the now four-piece with the ensuing years seeing the beginning of solo career’s for Naomi and now Alexis with Jamie and Nicole likely to follow suit in the near future. However, fans of the girl group still hold out hope for new material from the group as a four-piece.

However, 2021 will see Alexis follow suit with her former bandmates Layla Sanchez and Naomi White as she officially launches her solo career having been given a solo recording contract with Five Pesky Kids, the label which launched and established SYNCO. She has confirmed that she began working in a recording studio in late 2020 with plans of releasing her first solo material in early 2021 while also supporting the solo endeavours of bandmate ‘Naomi’ and her debut successes as well as confirming that she has the same support for both Jamie and Nicole in wherever they choose to head with their career’s next, also refusing to close the door on the possibility of the four girls working on music together as SYNCO again in the future, stating that there’s still so much that they hoped to do together as a group while also confirming that the main focus for the girls right now is finding their paths separately while maintaining their strong bonds between each other.

‘Alexis Brooke Grey’ was born October 30th, 1995 to an American mother Elizabeth and Mexican father Santiago Pérez but was adopted before the age of two years old by Jane and David Grey, with no real memory of her birth parents. Both birth parents died shortly after giving Alexis up for adoption with her father passing away in a Mexican prison and her mother sadly passing away two years later from skin cancer. Alex is proud of her Mexican heritage and although brought up in a very American household she has since delved more into her background, later becoming fluent in Spanish and becoming close with members of both her birth parents families, most notably her father’s side of the family. She still considers her true mother and father to be her adoptive parents Jane and David as well as her adoptive siblings ‘Brandon’ and ‘Mia’.

Alex is known for her beautiful green eyes and her strong personality that has been described as outspoken or sassy in the past, she was never the most popular girl in school which she considers the main reason for her thick skin and ability to stand up for herself and unwillingness to back down in a fight or argument, despite not being one of the quintessential popular girls in school she did have a few very close friends that she has remained close with into her adult life despite the hectic nature of the career that she has found herself in. She began writing music when she was 13 years old and she began singing seriously wherever she could at the age of 15, an ever-present performing at her local mall and local events. She was more drawn to rock and pop rock music as a child but as she started to develop her own natural vocal style it was clear that her voice fit a more traditional pop and RnB tone but has stated in early interviews that she wasn’t a huge fan of those genres but learnt to appreciate those styles of music as she grew and later become more of a fan. She has stated that Isabel and Teen Titans were her two main favourites of that genre when she was breaking into the industry and points to them as the two biggest reasons why she eventually found a love for pop and RnB music.

She sang in local events around the town she grew up in but never really considered singing as anything more than a hobby, but she was encouraged to try out for Weekend: The Big Search which were looking to find the next big pop group, at the insistence of her friends she auditioned for the show and although she didn’t think she’d go extremely far in the competition her beautiful vocals, natural stage presence and feisty personality shone through and she made it all the way in the competition which led to the formation of SYNCO. It was being in SYNCO and around the other girls that introduced Alexis more to the genre that they were now part of and this helped her to fall in love with pop music as a whole and she credits the girls for opening her mind to a world beyond the one she was familiar with. As part of SYNCO, the group released their debut single “Treat Your Girl Right” in 2012 and continued to regularly release hit songs which helped establish the group throughout the following years, with three studio albums to their name with their debut “High Speed” in 2013 it’s follow up “Grown” coming in 2014 and their final effort “Our World” in 2015 seeing the girls grow and grow with every passing year.

The group dropped to a four piece following their third album with the departure of Layla Sanchez and despite an attempted relaunch decided to take time away from the machine that the group had started to become, with the four members taking themselves out of the spotlight during their downtime. However with 2021 now here and confirmation of a solo recording contract at Five Pesky Kids, Alexis is set to take the first steps into her own solo career.
