Information
More Than You'll Ever Know is the second single from the R&B singer-songwriter Alicia Lena. It is set to be released on 5th June 2010. The song appeared on her debut album This Is Who I Am which was released in May 2010.
The song was written in 2009 by Alicia Lena. The song is about having a past and trying to put it behind you. The song is kind of autobiographical, Alicia said "The song was written to show people that just because you're seen a certain way now, it doesn't mean you've always been that way. I used to be an LA party girl when I was a teenager but since I moved to New York, I kind of wanted to re-invent myself and become the person I've always wanted to be, someone who is approachable, kind, easy-going and dependable at the same time. I wasn't like that in LA but I'm finally the person I've always wanted to be, it's hard trying to re-invent yourself, But if you want it enough then you can get what you want and your dreams can come true, you've just gotta believe in yourself."

Track Listing
1 - More Than You'll Ever Know
2 - New York Biy (Tisha Jackson Cover)
3 - Alicia Lena VH1 Interview

Alicia: Yeah me too, Some radio stations have already picked the song up, so it could be played before it's released which is pretty cool. And you know which single will be coming after this one... ours. Party-Starter. I can't wait.

Alicia: It really is a tough place to live because when your there you don't realise what your becoming because your just doing what everyone else seems to be doing and you don't have anyone to stop you and say "Take a look in the mirror, see if the person looking back at you is the person you want to be." I don't recommend any young musician to live in LA.

MTV Video Exclusive
The More Than You’ll Ever Know video starts with Alicia Lena performing live, It then cuts to her in a cage performing whilst trying to break free of the cage, (Which could represent the record industry trying to mould a certain type of singer). She eventually breaks free of the cage and starts performing the way she wants to perform. The song is about covering up your past and being who you want to be and the cage in the video appears to be a metaphor for breaking free of what people expect from you and being yourself.

Alicia Lena is a musician, born in California and moved to New York at 17. She began the year performing wherever would have her, until she was signed by Junction Records. She has since recorded her debut album This Is Who I Am which had the single New York Love Affair. She is set to release her new single on Saturday 5th. She has worked with Stephanie Fierce, Tisha Jackson, Ryan Ross Hernandez, Sasha and her current boyfriend R&B singer Moquel. It’s been a very busy and successful year so far she’s quickly became one of the most famous R&B singer-songwriters in the music industry, So to talk about the release of her second single and her relationship with Moquel we sat down with the princess of R&B Alicia Lena.

Q: Good afternoon Alicia how have you been doing?
Alicia: Really good, the album did well and the new single’s out soon, so it’s been a pretty cool couple of weeks for me.

Q: You’ve been busy since the release of the album, what have you been doing?
Alicia: I’ve actually been working on a couple of things. I collaborated with Sasha and O’Bryan Richmond on a couple of tracks and I also had my first job as a record producer.

Q: How did the producer thing come about?
Alicia: Out of the blue completely. I had met Sasha once before and I received a phone call from her about 3 weeks ago asking if I’d be interested in producing her upcoming album, I told her I hadn’t produced before but it was something I wanted to do in the future but I agreed to go to the studio and listen to a couple of songs which really blew me away and I knew that I wanted to produce this album as soon as I had heard those first couple of songs. It’s gonna be a huge album believe me.

Q: You’ve also been dating a fellow musician how’s that going?
Alicia: Really well actually, I’ve known Moquel since about February - March and we became really good friends, Which then led to us start dating and it’s been going great. He’s amazing both as a musician and as a human, he’s incredibly kind and he’s a true gent, I’m very happy to be with him.

Q: You’ve made sure that it’s been kind of a quiet relationship, haven’t you?
Alicia: Yeah actually, people know we’re dating but because we’re both in the same industry and we both know the media attention that comes with our jobs we’ve decided to keep a low profile when we’re out together, for example if we’re leaving my or his place I’ll leave a couple of minutes later so that the paparazzi don’t go crazy with us. It works for us though. We went to Hawaii when he was shooting his music video and we could spend our time together without worrying about paparazzi or anything like that.
But things are really good right now and we’re having a lot of fun.

Q: Your signed to Junction Records on a two album contract, will you leave after the second album?
Alicia: Hopefully not, Max has said that he wants to talk about a newer deal soon and I’m incredibly happy about being signed to Junction Records because they gave me the break when no one seemed to want to help me out and also they’re quickly becoming one of the biggest and well respected labels around, they’ve recently signed Vincent Cox, Glamazon and Sasha and they’ve got some amazing people working for Junction Records so it really is the best place for me for now and the foreseeable future.

Q: Are you close friends with the other acts at Junction Records?
Alicia: Yeah but I’m friends with everyone I ever talk to. I’m friends with Dan from The Walls, O’Bryan Richmond’s pretty cool, I’ve only met him twice but he’s good fun. I worked with Sasha on her upcoming album as producer and we’ve became good friends. Cristina Lake is an amazing person, I’m good friends with her and she’s such a beautiful woman, she’s been in like 3 or 4 huge movies, she’s working on her debut album which will be great and she’s only 19, She’s a great person. Then there’s the staff at Junction Records, Max and Lucy are great, they’re from a rock background but we work great together. Jake Wilson and Carly Brucker are fairly new to Junction Records like myself but they’ve been great. Carly is head of artistic development, she’s who you go to when your struggling to decide what direction you want to go in for your next album or tour or anything really, she’s helped me quite a bit.

Q: You’ve been heavily involved in charity events since becoming a well known musican?
Alicia: It’s really important to me to give back, I’m not gonna preach to people who aren’t interested in helping out charities but I will encourage people who are interested in helping out. Like I say it’s really important to me.

Q: The video for your new single aired this morning on MTV how would you describe your video?
Alicia: It’s pretty basic really, It starts off with me performing and it then cuts to me being locked in a cage and I’m forced to perform in it. Some have said it’s a metaphor for the record industry but that’s not really what was intended by the video. The video was more about breaking free of what you are and doing what you want to do rather than what your told to do.

Q: When can we expect the follow up album?
Alicia: It’s too early to start thinking seriously about the follow up. I was thinking that I’ll maybe start work on the follow up around November time but the actual album probably won’t be out until next year, at the moment it’s a completely black thing, I don’t have anything written for it and I want to start writing from scratch for the next album. I’m opening act for Tisha in June and Miss Vanity in August so that will keep me busy then there’s a North America headline tour for me from October to December, and then in the new year I may do a European tour, but I don’t know yet.

Well good look on the single and the future.

OOC: This and the Tour Dates was meant to be posted on Sunday.
