If people haven't heard of Michelle Green, let me add some info to your brain. She is a 15 year old vocal powerhouse who is taking the world by storm after her debut single "Fifteen" debuted at number 2 on the Top 20 Airplay Chart, which is a milestone for someone her age with that success. The single also has been doing well on mainstream billboard in its opening week, breaking the top 20 debuting at number 19 in the U.K itself! Now, what gives Michelle such success? She's not flashy and scandalous, a media doll, nor does she crave for the attention. Stay tuned in for this interview as this new star discusses her album process, chart success, popularity, and other starts in the business ! -
My Life Online! "My goodness! Father where almost late now!" It was about 8 :23 am as the Greens moved along the streets of New York City in a tinted windowed Range Rover as Michelle's driver sat in the front with her body guard in the passenger seat. Michelle and her father with a second body guard sat in the back seat.
"This always happens, dad. We can never be on time""Oh spear me a minute, thats untrue Mishy, we'll be there in a few minutes"
Michelle rolled her eyes sitting back, quite excited for one of her few interviews before her first album came out, which dropped on the 18th of that same month.
"So are you excited love?!" her father said grinning at her
"Excited isn't the word, I love doing this interviews, there the funnest !" As Michelle muttered her final words they pulled up to the interview venue and all you could see is camera's flashing at the car as it pulled up to the street. They knew it was Michelle.
"Bloody paparazzi! Always terrorizing my little beauty!" He said with a grim evil look on his face. Michelle smiled but then again frowned seconds later
"Always dad? What do you mean always? This JUST started happening. It was never this heavy either, its quite overwhelming. "Its because your famous darling!" He said with a sparkle facial expression. Michelle just sit back in her seat. Thinking to herself.
"Is this the life? I'm only 15 years old and I feel like the next pop sensation and I hope I'm not painted out to be that way because that exactly what I'm not. A pop sensation. Well great, what most people say is I'm crazy talented and I have a powerful voice, instead of sh's a promiscuous whit who cant sing or is generic or any of the above. I love the picture that has been painted out for me and I love the way things are going with my success, but what I really asked for was to just showcase my love of music on a wider spectrum. Instead of sitting on my bed, playing my piano, listening to my parents and friends butter me up about how good I am and how I should be a professional singer or singing for small school shows, I wanted to do this, I wanted to share my talent and showcase it among millions of people and that is what I'm doing today, but this? This is just a little bloody weird. All these cameras shooting shot after shot pushing and tugging. I didn't know a person could be that inspired by another persons talent to the point where they have to be so close to them, maybe the talent will rub off on them, eh? But no, lets get serious my life is a complete turn over, nothing is the same and I have to get used to this because this is what I love but I don't ask for all the glitz and glamour and attention, I look to showcase my talent for all but I guess this what comes with being "famous". I gotta get used to this life...
"MICHELLLE LETS GO!" Her father yelled as she popped back into real life
"Sorry dad I dazed away". He just laughed as they opened the door as the body guards cover Michelle.
All Michelle could do is stare and walk quickly as they tugged and pulled to get closer to Michelle and snap pics and yelled questions out to her as if she was some attraction at the zoo. The bodyguards on her lefts and rights and her father right behind her. Michelle felt quite safe. As they reached the door to the building one body guard ran up to open the door and out of no where
a man pushed through Michelle's father and grabbed Michelle by the arm swiftly......Part Two
Although the intruder couldn't do much, having her security guards grab her and push her into the elevator, it was still a very scary experience for the teenager. They stand there inside the elevator looking at each other in silence.
"That was, intense to say the least" Michelle said before the elevator opens and you could see the interview set with mic's and what not. The interviewer greets Michelle before she sits down, they exchange in a few words and they began the interview.
When ask about how she felt about her current success:
I couldnt believe it, at first, to tell you the truth quite frankly I thought it was going to fail. I thought, aw man a 15 year old girl with natural talent singing jazz and indie music would not fit in well with the fans. I thought I wasn't going to have any mainstream success and really I didn't care. I figured hey, if I couldn't sing and do this showing 10,000 fans my voice in music its fine with me. But as the single and album came out, I'm getting the chance to to show my voice in a huge spectrum and way more then 10,000 fans. Its quite overwhelming and scary but I am living the dream. To sing and be recognized as a different type of talent.
When asked about how the recording process of the album was
It was very professional. Usually, you'd get fun or something from someone. But when I'm in that studio I'm not there to have fun. I was there to deliver a great album! I was very concentrated. I would get up in broad day, drink about two cups of tea, hit the studio and just bust down tracks. My vocals were really pushed to the limit with this album and I discovered many different talents I have with my voice that really shocked me, my producers and my dad! Which excites me because with the next album we will fully know my capability which makes the product that much better.
When asked about the different band albums she has
Well right now I have the latest album by Infinite, I'll be picking up Stacey Walton's album and I have Christina Lakes' Nola and a couple others and Brittany Knox' Mannequin . I have alot of albums in my room. And I listened to all of them. I dont know why but its an interest just listening to others music and forming my own opinion to them and all the albums I've purchased, it was worth the money, I can actually say.
Who are her favorite artists of the day, and least favorite
I really am I fan of Christina Lake, Stacey Walton, Alicia Lena, Stephanie Fierce, Daniel and Jack Frost those stand among the highest in my opinion. I also like Brittany Knox - many have negative things to say about her but her music isn't really all that bad and the way her type of pop music is made and constructed she does a hell of a great job of doing it! People like Heavy Punisher I don't really understand their standing in the music business. But I'm only 15 years old and I feel every artist is special in their own way so who am I to state an opinion about someone.
Next Album?
I mean, I did start sketching together a few ideas I have for tracks but it definitely no where near the recording process and I'm kind of getting use to the fame and popularity. There's no inspiration I've picked up for the album since I just released "Voice Of Me" but when I get a clear inspiration for this new album I'll go into full fledged next album mode.
