Born July, 23rd 1985, Billie Beckett grew up just outside of Sacramento, California. In his first year of highschool he picked up a piano and began trying to play. He quickly found that he had no talent for it and switched over to the guitar. Through highschool he played guitar for a couple of bands, but he didn't begin singing until early in his junior year. He found that he wasn't all that bad.

In 2003 Billie helped form the band Reported Failure. In the past few years the band became a great success, selling over 9 million albums worldwide. After the release of their most recent album titled 'disarm', Beckett announced that he would begin recording a solo album that he had been writing over the past couple of years.
"I wrote most of the songs inbetween the debut album, and the follow up, for Reported Failure. They're mostly just about experiences I've had. In that time I was living half my life at home, and half of it somewhere else," says Beckett. "The title of the album is going to be 'Open Waters'. It's about just having a full life ahead, and overcoming all that stands between you and that life,". Recording of the album began Thursday, August 12th.
Beckett says that once alot of the recording is complete he will try to release the album quickly. He also plans to steadily release info such as lyrics, tracklisting, and artowrk steadily leading up to the release of the album.
