OK, so my other favourite RP site announced its closing/relocation, and offered me use of their cboxes for whatever I wish .... and though I didn't take it up, I was thinking that an offsite chatbox for roleplayers might be a good idea. It would be similar to 'The Dirty Bastard' or 'RP Random Thread' or the main part of 'I'm A Rockstar, Get Me Out Of Here', just a place to jump in with one-liners at any time. Being as like TRSG's wiki, it's not embedded on the site, so I wouldn't need Carl's permission to create it. As a lot of us post in one-liners, I think it would be a good idea, plus more room for interaction than most threads.

However, every rose has its thorns, and it might detract attention from actual threading. I enjoy reading and writing long roleplays, and I don't want to see less of these. At the same time, there would be hopefully less one-liner starter threads, which could be redirected to the chatroom and therefore clean up the board a bit, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm all for it, I think that it would be a great idea - but what do you think? Vote above, and post your thoughts below! (:

I think it is a great idea. I don't think it would distract people from the site because people always want to roleplay (eventually at least).

There are many thing I would love to say but not in the random thread because either it isn't that "post worthy" or because I hate the whole PM (Waiting for a reply), then Pm back etc. thing.

PM's are good for RP's and planning things, but that's about it.


So I vote yes.

I think it would be a great way to get more people talking together, as not everyone wants to make a Twitter account for their acts to post one-liner things, so I think this would come in handy, I vote yes! :)

Personally i dont think we have enough people using the forums anyway, surely making another thing to distract people from the forum would just make the forum even more dead?

As I said, it has its downsides too. I'm not thinking so much 'distraction from the forums' as 'place to build muse for threads, and roleplay things which wouldn't fit in the forums'. I think Daniel said it well - if you have something to say but nowhere to say it. Also, Stacy mentioned the IC Twitter accounts which were really popular about a year ago (don't know if they still are), and that was the busiest time in new-TRSG RP; it's kind of like that.

Well, there are Twitters for the characters, you can use Twitter.com for that - IDK if people are still using them. But just use it as a place to talk to each other in character and say whatever you want.
