LIVE PERFORMANCE
Saturday, 6th November, 2010 Radio City Music Hall, Manhattan, New York

UserPostedImage

Tonight Stacey Walton, is performing in New York for a special one off concert for MTV at Radio City Music Hall. She steps out into the spotlight, wearing her trademark black vest top and small denim shorts, smiling as the crowd cheers her in response to her entrance.
She grabs the microphone and screams, "WE'RE ON FUCKING TV TONIGHT!!!" she pauses "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the debut of my newest band member, on Bass, Mr Joe Lee Dayton.”
Joe steps onto the stage embracing Stacey as he steps into position at the front center of the stage with Stacey.
He holds his microphone stand and sings an accapella introduction to The Sun Always Rises, “Life Is Hard/With No Surprises/Today My Friend/The Sun Always Rises.” Joe then steps back and strikes his bass to the intro to the song, Stacey then begins her role as front woman and sings with the conviction of a seasoned pro, moving around the stage typically energetic, She seems more vibrant tonight with Joe Dayton as her onstage foil, often joining microphone’s for the chorus.
The track finishes with unexpected pyrotechnics, fire to be precise, a new addition to a Stacey Walton gig maybe?

The band pauses for a moment while Stacey takes a quick drink from a bottle of water at the side of the stage, She steps up to the microphone and whispers “If I had enough time I’d fuck you all.” before raising her voice slightly “This is called English Girls Are Easy.
Joe Dayton plays the intro, a similar intro to Smells Like Teen Spirit, Stacey rocks her head back and forth encouraging the fans to do so, she then brings the microphone back into her body and screams the chorus with the crowd singing along in unison, she steps to the edge before dropping to her knees and pointing to a guy in the front row and encouraging him to come closer, he obliges and she almost serenades him, not on a similar level to say Enrique with Hero considering her song is about how slutty London chicks are and lyrics like, “You can sit in your throne with you crown/cos baby tonight/I’m fucking going down.” She ends the song and blows a kiss to the audience.

And now onto one of the more pop/rock ballads of her debut album, Don’t Look Back, a similar cheesy chorus to say Don’t Stop Believing and Dream On. She continue’s to rock it up, strutting back and forwards across the stage, often leaning on Joe during bass solos. The performance is again very entertaining and it makes you forgive the chorus, Think About The Cars And The Groupies In The Back/Aim For The Stars/And Baby Don’t Look Back.”
An all be it brief song but decent nevertheless.

The next song is of epic proportions especially to those fond of Punk/Grunge, A medley of Nirvana’s classic Come As You Are and the hugely under-rated Replacements track, Attitude. Both of which show where Stacey’s roots really lie, despite her commercial success, this is clearly why she fell in love with music. She continue’s to rock the stage as well as the crowd, a see of arms being punched in the air and the crowd jumping up and down, it a rock concert in the fullest sense of the word despite the filming from MTV happening throughout.
The ability to turn the way the crowd feels from a cheesy rock ballad to a scrappy punk classic is something to behold and she continue’s the range of genre’s with the next song.

The next song is about living your life and doing things while you can, the original features Michelle Green but tonight it‘s all Stacey providing both vocals this time, Joe Dayton providing backing vocals as well as a reliable bass line throughout.
It’s a rather commercial song for Stacey but it shows her diversity as a writer, something that’s often quite unrecognized about her. The swagger and the confidence is overwhelming from a 19 year old girl from a normal South London upbringing. She is on her way to superstardom and although the album is good and the singles are good and the personality is certainly interesting and the looks are definitely there, one thing about her that stands out is her love of performing live and her live performances are always entertaining.

She makes her way off the stage and off through the curtains, but as expected the crowd want more, she quickly returns to the stage for another song, “This is a new song written by me and Joe, it’s called I Thought I Loved You, It Was Just How You Looked In The Night.” She continue’s to show the full range of her ability during this song, as she plays it on the piano, just as accomplished on it as she is with a guitar, The original of the song features a rap intro from Matty but tonight there’s no such thing. It’s a blend of everything from Rock to Pop to Dance to Punk and vocally she is again right on the money, Joe has also had a very good first night as part of her backing band and overall it’s a job very well done.

Once the song is finished the whole band including Stacey take a bow and leave the stage again, the crowd continue to cheer and Stacey returns again, this time alone, she sits at the piano and acknowledges the crowd, “You guys have been out of this fucking world, so here’s a little something for you all, it’s also a massive ego boost for me.” with that she smiles and begins playing.

“All we really want is affirmation/affirmation is all we’re looking for/I don’t need your wealth accumulation/you can keep it/second encore/second encore.”

She leaves the dark stage, clearly pleasing her regular fans and even winning over some casual observers.

Setlist
The Sun Always Rises
English Girls Are Easy
Don’t Look Back
Come As You Are/Attitude (Nirvana/The Replacements Cover)
The Young & The Restless
I Thought I Loved You, It Was Just How You Looked In The Night
Second Encore

OOC: Sorry it's not very long, it's for an MTV Special so I thought having a full on gig wouldn't be realistic.

" I like it. I will tell my fans, when I get some that some thing. Maybe more bizzare in me showing it for them to understand what I mean then I will go to my bipolar mood and then regret the whole thing. But I like it- the songs are my favorites. I love- English Girls are Easy. We are not- without a fight, I'm not going down. But Stacey- great job. I only dream of performancing that well one day.. (pause) wait- I will."

Taylor: Yeah, but with a couple of days notice, we could have come down. I'm not sure actually, seeing as we've only just got back from Wales.

Killer performance, Stacey! You've always had amazing concerts, and this one is no exception.

-Eric Quillington
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."
