Q: Joe Lee Dayton, your not exactly well known are you?Joe: Well My friends would beg to differ, but yeah in the music industry a couple of people know me but not many. I guess it’s a bass player thing. You remember the frontman/woman or the lead guitar virtuoso or the crazy drummer but not really the bass player.Q: Your maybe more well known for being friends with Stacey Walton?Joe: Yeah definitely, there’s no question about it, I am best known for being friends with her, we get on really well together and we’ve been writing some great songs, I guess it just fits perfectly, she’s got her style and I’ve got mine and I think we even each other out. We argue a lot and we talk badly about each other but we‘re really great friends.Q: So you hit that yet?Joe: God no. I really haven’t. Like I say we’re really good friends but I can’t see us going over to that place you know. It would be awkward, there’s been flirting of course because that’s the way she is but nothing substantial which is the way I’d like it to stay.Q: You released a single which you sang on, are you a singer?Joe: Ha, no one else wanted to do it. I sing a little and I can carry a tune but I’m nothing special, I’ll probably stick to playing bass and writing songs and being the eye candy.Q: So I’d imagine you’d be looking to form bands in the future?Joe: Probably yeah. I like to try out different things and I’ll be looking to get a band going soon. As of right now I’m touring, touring, touring as a bass player so that’s good enough for now. But if anyone is interested in being part of a band with me then that would be great.Q: Your touring as part of Stacey’s backing band at the moment, is that tough? Joe: Yeah it can be, but the other guys in the band aren’t interested in the attention and because myself and Stacey work well together we can sort of be more at the front center of the stage. Obviously she’s the reason why people turn up but I’d like to think I can add something else to Stacey Walton gigs. Q: As you’ve mentioned you like to write songs, and collaborations are very popular these days, any chance of a collaboration album or other ways to get your songs out there?Joe: I’ve always liked the idea of a collaboration album and that’s something I’ll look into at some point but right now I’m just writing songs and if someone is interested in using them then great.Q: What kind of songs can we expect?Joe: Generally light hearted songs, views on the current state of the world, the titles say it all. For example I’ve written songs titled, Vampire’s & Wearwolf’s (Teenage Fantasy) and Crying Facebookers. I don’t take myself too seriously.Q: So what kind of music stars do you like?Joe: Mainly rock oriented, I do love female Rockstars the most. Then rock bands like, Infinite, Reckoner and PANIC!. I like some pop music but I’ll listen to mixes of everything really. It’s not all that important to be honest.Q: And what would you like in your future?Joe: Hopefully a moderately succesfull career and then just the normal, settle down, get married have kids. I’m a pretty conventional guy, I have my out there moments but I like the normal things in life.Q: I hear that you going to the Chaos Awards with two very attractive female musicians?Joe: Oh yeah, I’m going with the beautiful weirdo that is Glamazon and Nicole Woods of Saburban Sunrise, it should be fun but I’m pretty nervous about meeting Glamazon, she carries a baseball bat around or something but I think it should be fun, I also think Stacey could be a bit jealous because she has history with Glamazon.Q: Oh really what kind of history?Joe: Well apart from being obsessed with her music, they made out fairly recently, which I‘m sure was a very beautiful moment.I’m sure it was, well thanks for the interview and good luck with everything.
