Mille walked into the audition room with an air of confidence about her. She looked around at the small room and it gave her a sense of comfort. Millie stood in front of the auditioner and looked at him, waiting. He looked up at her; he had a scraggly beard and was balding. He lifted his glasses and rubbed his eye.
"You are Millie Little, yes?" he says to her. His voice is very gruff and rather off-putting.
Millie takes a deep breath and smiles, "Yes, that is me."
He nods, and scratches the back of his neck, a sweat patch becomes visible on his shirt under his arm. "Okay then Millie, can i have a brief background please?"
Millie nods at him, and fiddles with the bottom of her top, she then puts her hand in her jeans pocket to feel for her mobile phone - it always gives her a sense of security having it on her. She grasps it and smiles, "Well, i am 21 years old and live in London. My mother was Schizophrenic, which meant i was a 'young carer', until my birthday this year, when she sadly passed away."
The auditioner gives her a sympathetic smile and then continues, "So why do you want to be a recording artist?" He takes his glasses and puts them on the table.
Millie watches as the glasses gently touch down against the surface, "I have always wanted to sing, buy my mother being ill has always meant that i cannot do that, but now that she has... gone... i feel more inspired than ever to go and continue with my dreams"
Satisfied with the answer, the auditioner speaks again; "Okay, so what are you going to sing for me today?"
"I am going to sing a song by Alicia Lena." With this the auditioners ears perk up, he lifts his glasses from the table and rests them on his ears and nose, "The song is called More Than You Will Ever Know" The auditioner nods his head with the song choice.
Millie sings the song, but it is a different version to the original - not necessary worse, but definately different. The song finishes and she looks at the auditioner almost expectantly.
He looks up from his sheet of paper at her, and he smiles. "Miss Little, that was very good, and i feel the different vibe to the song was original, but unfortunately, i do not think that you are the right type of musician for this label. Thank you so much for your time." He stands up to shake her hand, she walks over to him - almost zombified - and shakes his hand, limply. She is in shock; Millie cannot believe that she has failed to get in to the label...
