The song was released worldwide on September 14th 2020 and serves as the third single from Summers' long-awaited third studio album, MANTRA. The album is finally set to be released in fall 2020, marking 8 years since her last studio effort. The single follows 6 months on from the release of "Monday's Love" which became another top 5 hit for Summers in the spring. Production of the song was handled by Preeti and Ellie-Grace. "Figure It Out" was written by Ellie-Grace alongside Christopher Hudson in a 2018 creative session. Like the previous releases from MANTRA, "Figure It Out" sees Ellie-Grace incorporate "pop" sounds and melodies into her work while remaining rooted in country. "Figure It Out" has been noted for its more "traditional" styling, drawing comparisons to her earlier work, dropping the disco crossover elements heard in her last two releases for rockier, more country leaning production and delivery. The song details the struggles of being a role model and person in the spotlight while also dealing with the aftermath of a bad break-up. Summers finds herself putting on a brave face and pretending to be the strong image everyone has of her in their head while simultaneously suffering an identity crisis behind closed doors. The song was written in 2018 with acclaimed singer-songwriter Christopher Hudson in one of the many writing sessions for the often delayed MANTRA record. With Ellie-Grace and many artists on the Studio 60 roster not being able to officially release music due to financial trouble at the label, the track remained unreleased for two years. Over that time, Summers re-worked "Figure It Out" several times over while remaining adamant that the track would appear on the album in some form or another. A personal favourite of Summers', "Figure It Out" was one of few songs never to be switched out for one of the other 100+ recordings for the MANTRA record when creating multiple incarnations of the track listing. Should you sing these lyrics? Should you wear this outfit? Or should you just release what you want to help you get through whatever you're going through, not limiting yourself or censoring yourself? I know a lot of people think we just go into a studio and say whatever, maybe some do, but a lot of artists are really conscious and it can make the process that much more stressful lol. But I love this song! I think it is one of the most honest songs I've heard and I hope you are able to find your own mantra that suits you! I love this back to basics vibe to the music and lyrically this is from the highest level. I think it's such a universally relatable topic but I think anybody in this industry can relate to this song, at least those that are still quite new to this and are very much figuring themselves out. Do you want to fall in line and be what people want you to be or do you want to go your own way and figure it out for yourself. At least that's my personal interpretation of it. Beautiful as always, can't wait for the album! OOC: As always, lyrically on a different level. Great work! :)

Yeah, even when writing this song I didn't want to come off as ungrateful as I am in a very privileged position that many would love to be in. It's tricky navigating things in this industry from; image to messages you put out to your own emotions and well-being when it crosses over into your own work. I wanted to keep the lyrics just vague enough so that anyone can relate to the breakdown of a relationship. That's the core of the song but the fuel behind it is the crazy standards and expectations that comes with what we do in this industry. Yes, indeed, there are a lot of things people will ask themselves. There are a million questions and no straight answers.
