  Name: Universal Music Awards (UMA’s) Industry: Music, Entertainment Type: Awards Ceremony Location: Beverly Hills, California Country: United States Debut: 2024 The Universal Music Awards (stylized as UMA’s), are awards presented by the Worldwide Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. Created and announced in early 2024, it was confirmed that the very first ever televised UMA’s would take place in March 2024 which would cover the 2023 music industry season and confirmation that an annual show would be produced each March highlighting the achievements of the previous year’s music artists and their releases. It was confirmed that the show will not only showcase the artists and their awards but also include live performances throughout in a similar vein to many other music awards shows throughout history. From the official press release, it was confirmed that the show will take place annually from Beverly Hills, California. In its first inception it was announced that eleven award categories would be included within the show with future incarnations of the show open to the possibility of additional awards being presented if demand is met. It was later announced that host and comedian 'Colby Mayfield' would be the first ever host of the ceremony along with the confirmation that the first ever incarnation of the Universal Music Awards would take place on March 9, 2024.

Colby Mayfield announced as the host of the first ever Universal Music AwardsThe up and coming tv host and comedian ‘Colby Mayfield’ has officially been confirmed as the host of the first ever Universal Music Awards set to debut in March 2024. Winning out from a shortlist of four candidates, the comedian from New Orleans, Louisiana will take charge of proceedings from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Saturday, March. 9. 2024 The Worldwide Recording Academy and Universal Music Awards are pleased to announce that host, comedian, actor and author, ‘Colby Mayfield’ will host the 2024 Universal Music Awards, giving him the distinct honor of being the first ever host of what we envision to be one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the entertainment industry and annually one of the biggest nights on the music calendar featuring awards presentations, live performances and a cavalcade of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry. Although a name new to many, Colby was chosen as the outstanding candidate from a shortlist of four with some having extensive experience in the music industry itself, the personality, composure and ability to deal in high-pressure situations were enough to convince the decision making panel to unanimously choose Colby Mayfield as the host for the first incarnation of the Universal Music Awards. Blending humour and an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of a wide range of music throughout the years, it was clear that he was the outstanding choice that would be able to provide not only and entertaining evening for the audience live and at home but also bring a reverence and respect to the artists that are nominated for these awards. As a young comedian and host, he is somebody that we hope to see return in this position for future incarnations of the show and I’m sure everybody will wish him well in such a scrutinising and pressured situation, one in which we’re sure he will excel. The 2024 Universal Music Awards will air live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 9, 2024 exclusively on the CBS Television Network and will stream on Netflix worldwide. 2024 Universal Music Award Performers: Slim Money, Cerys Nyland, Amy Meyer and more announcedThe 2024 Universal Music Awards will feature performances from a diverse range of artists throughout the evening which include, Slim Money, Cerys Nyland, Amy Meyer, Malik Jarvez and more as they take to the stage in the very first incarnation of the UMA’s on March 9, 2024.            With the first ever Universal Music Awards ceremony set to take place in under three weeks’ time at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California we’re delighted to announce some of the performers set to hit the stage and showcase their talents in front of the watching audience in the arena as well as those anticipated to tune in worldwide. The list of performers includes some of the hottest names in the music industry right now and current UMA nominees Cerys Nyland, Voodoo Dolls and Sigrún with appearances from Lydia Santangelo and Amy Meyer also confirmed as special guests to hit the stage during the evening. “Where’s the visuals?”
“Did she retire?”
“How do you drop the album of the year with no visuals?”
“Four years since her last performance?”
“Where is Tisha Jackson?”
Tisha is sound asleep and then she begins to hear a collection of her fans thoughts. It has been a year since she dropped her tenth studio album, Album of The Year, yet still no visuals, no performances, no tour. The voices of her fans wake her up. She takes off her sleep mask and looks into the camera and asks,
“Where should I have my next performance?”
Tisha walks off stage to her assistant and asks,
“Should I make them wait until the Album of The Year World Tour?”
Assistant: They want it sooner!
Tisha: Okay.
Tisha is in space and calls her assistant via satellite,
“Should I be the first woman in space to ever give a musical performance?”
Assistant: No they want you here on Earth.
Tisha: Okay.
Tisha appears from behind an A.I. version of herself.
Tisha: Introducing, Tisha-I. The first artist and A-I duo perform-
Tisha’s assistant cuts her off.
Assistant: Absolutely not.
Tisha holds a press conference. She walks to the podium.
Tisha: I, Tisha Jackson would like to announce my run for 2024 presidency.
Tisha's assistant runs to her beside the podium.
Assistant: Why don’t you just open the UMA’s?
Tisha: Okay. I would like to announce that I am opening the 2024 UMA’s. I can’t wait to see you there!
