This months interview is with the actress/singer Cristina Lake.

Hi Cristina how’s you year been so far?
Cristina: It’s been really fun, I decided to try out a music career and it’s gone brilliantly, I know I don’t have the perfect voice but my album has done pretty well and I’ve met some amazing people through it, the support has also been incredible, people have said some very nice things about my album which has been a great bonus and I’m glad it went down so well because I was pretty worried about failing.

You started off as an actress at a young age was it tough being in the spotlight?
Cristina: No because I wasn’t in the spotlight, I was 16 when I first started filming Home Sweet Home and when it came out I was almost 18 years old. I never had attention due to my film career, The attention only really started when I began my music career. With the film career, I guess the films were successful and people may have recognised me sometimes but I never had huge attention from media or fans of whatever, I guess it’s a good thing, but it was easy really.

Your music career has taken off so well, were you surprised?
Cristina: Yeah 100%. I kind of thought people would want me to fail because they may have thought, oh look at this actress trying to become a singer but I’ve been bowled over by the response to my album, I was so nervous about it and for it to do so well has been great, it means that I have this option of a career in music which is something I’ve always wanted to do, music was my first love and acting always came second.

Are you finished with the acting?
Cristina: No not at all. I’m gonna be in London filming a new movie called Long Walk Home in September. I play an English girl so that’s a challenge, I’ve got to start working on my accent. I don’t really know where to begin. But I’m always gonna try to be involved in film but now I’ve got the chance to do different things, I’m young and I like to think I’m fearless, there’s so much that I want to do in my life and music and film is just a small part of that.

There has been reports that your dating fellow musician Jack Frost, any truth in that?
Cristina: I’m good friends with Jack and we get along really well and we’re similar in personalities but I’m not gonna be shedding any light on those rumours. It could be true but then again it may not be. If I’m in a relationship I consider that a part of my private life and although I don’t mind people speculating I’m not really gonna be talking about that. I wanna be known for my talents rather than who I’m dating, so I’m sure your all interested to know if it’s true or not but I can neither confirm or deny those rumours I’m afraid.

So would you describe yourself as a partygirl?
Cristina: Not massively, I like to go out and have a few drinks with friends, I'm just a typical 19 year old really, I love to have fun with friends and sometimes it has gotten a little bit out of hand in the past but you learn from things you know and I think it's better to do something and learn from it, whether that's drugs or whatever. I'm not saying take drugs, but I'm saying that no matter how old you get your always learning and those things you learn when your younger shape your life, that's what I think anyway.

Oh well, so what’s next for you on the music front?
Cristina: I don’t know. I was never planning doing a big solo tour, if I get offered the chance to tour with someone, like I did with Jack then I’ll consider it, but performing live is the most scary part about the music career for me, I’m so nervous but hopefully with time I’ll become confident in my live performances.

Are you comfortable with everything that comes with fame?
Cristina: I’m comfortable with most things, but there are times when I’m less comfortable with things, like photo shoots, I know that’s a big part of my career but I’ve never been a big fan of it. I just get on with things really though. I’m pretty easy going, it takes a lot to annoy me.

What about a follow up album?
Cristina: I’ve already started to write songs for a possible follow up. I’ve got some great ideas and hopefully I’ll have some time to try them out and maybe get a new album out in the new year or even at the end of the year, I wanna try to build on my debut and hopefully I can continue in the same sort of way the first album went in. I don’t wanna rush it though, if the songs come easy enough then great but I’m not gonna worry about it if nothings happening.

So you’re a fan of writing?
Cristina: Yeah, I wrote all of the songs on my debut album and I’ve written a couple of scripts which is something I’m gonna focus on in the future, I’d love to write a play or a movie and maybe in the future I can create my own masterpiece, I guess that’s sort of what I’m working towards.

Stacey: Thanks, I've loved being involved in music and I've got to work with some amazing people like Jason Smith who is probably the most gifted musician I've seen, everything comes so naturally to him it's really something magical watching him work.

Katie : Wow, you're an actress too? We should totally rub shoulders some time, I've written and directed four successful movies. And I know what you mean about the accents - my favourite little actor here, he's a Brit boy, worked so hard to sound Australian for the Pop Tarts set!
Joshy : No, it wasn't that difficult really! Hi Cristina, I don't believe we've met, I'm Joshy, musician turned actor turned saint and full-time shoe expert. Great interview, you can't be easily annoyed in this business, so you must be a good candidate for the industry! (:

Cristina: Yeah we should definitely work together sometime Katie, that would be great. And Hi Joshy I've heard some good things about you from friends, thanks for the kind words, it's really appreciated.

1. BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL - JAKEY COMATOSE
"You can't really go wrong with anything this guy releases, he's an icon of music and I got to perform with him, I can't really give this guy anymore status than he has and I think everyone loves him."

2. THIS SIDE OF EDEN - JACK FROST
"This is my kind of album and of course I'm good friends with Jack. Every track is a winner on this album."

3. DEMENTIA - MISS VANITY
"She's the most creative person in music ever, that's my opinion and this album is my favourite by Miss Vanity. She just gets better and better and I'm in awe of her creativity."

4. BLUE NEBULA - INFINITE
"There has been some amazing bands this year but I think it's gonna be tough for any of those to top Infinite. I just love this album as does everyone else it seems, brilliant work."

5. ALLIES - THE BARDS
"These guys are icons of music and the people they got on this record is great, some of the biggest names in music and I also got to feature on a track called Exodus Of Night. I've always loved collaboration albums and this one is the best with people like Stephanie Fierce, Eric Quillington, Jakey Comatose, Max Armstrong, The Waiting Room and the unreleased Jack Fate track, brilliant again by The Bards."

"Yeah I really love acting, you can get lost in the story and it's a huge release. I'd love to act alongside you in a film maybe we could write a screenplay together or something along those lines in the future.

It's nice to see someone with multiple talents trying new things. I was slightly skeptical about an actress crossing over into the music world, thinking it might just be a bit of a gimmick. But, you completely won me over with Nola, and your tour with Jack Frost. I was lucky enough to make it to one of those shows, and I had an awesome time. I'd be interested in writing a song for one of your movies, I think it'd be a unique experience, so let me know if you want that to happen! I'm flattered that you consider Blue Nebula one of your favorite albums!

Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

"Thanks, it's definitely not a gimmick, I've always loved music but I audition for an movie on a whim and low and behold I was offered the role in my debut movie which was incredible after that my focus turned to acting but now I've done a couple of movie's and I just felt it was the right time to return to my first love which is music. I'm glad you enjoyed the live show, I'm not the most comfortable up onstage performing live so it's great when people say they enjoyed the show, it gives me a bit added confidence. On the soundtrack thing, I think you'd fit perfectly on the soundtrack and I'm executive producer of the soundtrack so I'll send you a copy of the script and if you can write a couple of tracks that would be great, we're always looking for people to write songs for the films, so thanks. And Blue Nebula is one of the best albums of all time in my view, I think people will be talking about it in 50-60 years."
