Today Cristina lake is outside a usually quiet restaurant in New York but today it’s very different because Cristina or Nola as her friends and family call her is about to come out of the restaurant to a crowd of New Yorkers and I’ve been given the tough task of interviewing her, but first I’ve got to somehow wrestle my way to the front of the que and meet up with her before heading into a taxi and heading to her Manhattan apartment.
The interest in this actress turned popstar is at fever pitch due to her relationship with the wild and off the rails Jack Frost and although that’s one of the main reasons which will attract people to read this interview, I’d like to think that she will keep it generally private, but we’ll have to wait and see.
As Cristina leaves the restaurant the crowd are reaching forward almost knocking down the railings to get close to her, she looks scared as would most people, I’ve managed to find some space near a cab and she spots me and moves quickly towards myself and the cab, she steps into the cab but not before shooting the crowd a wave.
We’re now on our way through New York City and heading towards her apartment in Manhattan. She made a bold move to go into music when her acting career was hitting it’s highest point - “It’s not like I quiet acting, I just thought, I’m 19 years old and I’ve been in 4 great movies but now I wanna do something different, I knew I’d have some critics early on but that wasn’t gonna put me off, I’ve never really spoken of my desire of being a musician in the past but I just thought the time was right and I’ve had an amazing time meeting some great people and I’ve had so much more positive feedback for my music than I’d have expected, it’s been an amazing year but it’s also been one of the more challenging of my life, you know.” And those challenges have come recently with her relationship with Jack Frost - “I’m sure some people will have been in a similar position, when you have a sudden connection with someone, it’s special but like all good things, there’s also gonna be a few difficulties along the way, I’ve never been a drug user and this year I’ve been more exposed to that side of things and it’s not a pretty sight, I’m happy to say that I haven’t been tempted. I’m just a 19 year old girl with a high profile job, it’s tough at times but there’s nothing I’d rather do.” And does she regret meeting Jack - “Not in the slightest, he’s an amazing person, when he’s sober and clean, he could be a huge icon but right now he’s blowing his chances of everything. I don’t regret meeting him and being with him, he’s an incredible songwriter and he puts so much emotion into his work and as a person I’ve never been more in love with someone, but things don’t always work out the way you’d like, I’m 19 and I’ve got so much time to have fun, in the last couple of weeks I’ve felt so much stress and it’s not good for a 19 year old to have so much responsibility in a relationship, I wanna go to London and just relax and have some fun, it‘s my time now“.
And what about another album - “Yeah at some point, I’ll start working on an album after I’ve finished filming Long Walk Home, I won’t be making any film commitments for a while because I’ve loved being in music and hopefully I can finish Long Walk Home and go straight into working on a follow up to Nola.” So is she looking for a new boyfriend - “I dunno, it’s a bit soon, if something happens then that’s a good thing obviously but I’m not actively seeking a new relationship, I’ve said recently that there is a possibility of me and Jack working things out but that’s up to him to sort himself out first and if not then yeah I’m gonna be single and looking, there’s nothing wrong with that.” Is she not afraid that this could push him over the edge - “I don’t think so, I think that he has to get himself in a normal state of mind and everyone who cares about him has to make that happen whatever way, I think it’s best for both of us that we’re gonna be spending time apart because that gives us time to realise what is most important in our lives, it’s really for the best in my opinion.”
And now onto London - “I love it so much, the script for Long Walk Home is incredible and the fact that it’s set in London is another positive about it, I have fond memories, the last time I was in London, I joined Jake Comatose onstage at the O2 Arena in London for a duet, it was the single greatest experience of my career, it would be tough to top that.”
And with that comes the end of this interview. Look out for Under The August Moon it’s gonna generate a lot of interest. OOC: It was really rushed so that's why it may seem a bit incomplete. Edited by user 12 September 2010 07:29:16(UTC)
