 {A Tender Kiss by Stacey Walton finishes playing}
Marc: And that was The first single of Stacey Walton’s debut album The Sun Always Rises, and we’re joined by the girl who created that album, Stacey Walton, how‘s it going Stacey?. Stacey: Yeah everything’s been going great, the albums finished, I’m hitting the road in October to tour with Infinite and I’m having fun, what more could you ask for.
Marc: So this is the perfect time for you in your life right now? Stacey: Yeah I think so, I don’t remember being this happy so yeah I guess it is the perfect time for me.
Marc: Well your year has just got better and better hasn’t it? Stacey: Definitely, I didn’t have any money at the start of the year and I was struggling to survive in London but Danny watched me perform at a small club and things took off, he got me to record a demo and sent it to Max at Junction Records, they helped me out until I got a full record deal and they’ve continued to help me out and now things are great.
Marc: Weren’t you dating Matt Urie of Saburban Sunrise? Stacey: Yeah I was for a couple of months, he lives in the US so it wasn’t a very easy thing to have, I don’t like long distance relationships, you can’t have good sex over the phone.
Marc: *Looks shocked* Ummm Stacey: Should I not have said that on air?
Marc: Well it’s not ideal but it’s not the worst thing you could say, it should be fine, I hope. Stacey: Oh well, you live you learn. I’m not used to censoring myself
Marc: Well it is live, Ummm, anyway, are you single? Stacey: Yeah but your not really my type. Only joking.
Marc: Oh well I wasn’t asking for that reason, maybe we could hook you up with someone? Stacey: I’d rather not, I’m single now, I like being single, I like to party and fu (stops herself) fool around.
Marc: What about another celebrity relationship, we all enjoy those car crashes Stacey: Maybe, I’ve got some great friends in the music industry but there’s nothing going on there.
Marc: Ok well I guess you’ve got the rest of your life to settle down with someone. Stacey: Exactly, I don’t really plan too far ahead.
Marc: Ok, so what music do you enjoy? Stacey: I think everyone who knows me is aware of my love of Infinite. I also like Reckoner and Mind. I like Daniel and Glamazon and I like Saburben Sunrise. I really enjoyed the Fathers Of Fury demo I found over the internet and they seem so promising, so I‘ll be looking out for them.
Marc: And how good is GrungeScornRecords as a label? Stacey: It’s alright, they kind of let you get on with things, I could have signed a deal with Junction Records or even a couple of other less risky labels, but I thought what’s the fun in that so I decided to join a label with an owner who also happens to be a convicted killer, I also worked with him on a track which peaked at number 7. He’s actually a fairly normal person.
Marc: You’ve also worked with Michelle Green, she’s 15 right, how was it to work with someone so young? Stacey: It was alright, I had to be careful around her though, I wasn’t sure if she was a good girl or a bit of a wild child, she seems to be a mix of both, She’s a nice girl but she also seems pretty fun, When I was in the studio recording my album, I liked to have a few beers in the room and we had a couple of beers after recording the track to celebrate and it was good fun, I dunno if I’ve been a bad example but I think she enjoyed herself working with me. She could be great, at 15 she’s been very successful so far and I’d like to work with her again.
Marc: And you worked with Jason Smith and Eric Quillington? Stacey: Yeah, that was amazing, we had so much fun working together, Eric and Jason would make an amazing production double team, they had a fair few beers and there’s a couple of crazy moments which happened in the studio.
Marc: Oh really, would we ever hear about those crazy moments? Stacey: Maybe, I’ll make sure it’s ok with Jason and Eric first but it’s nothing scandalous or anything, I’m gonna be finishing the Studio Diary at some point and I think there’s gonna be some interesting story’s in there, I think it’s being made into a bonus book or booklet for fans, so look out for it.
Marc: Ok it looks like it will be an interesting read, unfortunately that’s our time up. This next song is Stacey’s latest single, English Girls Are Easy. Thanks for your time Stacey and we look forward to your album.OOC: I know it's pretty basic but it's just a little something I did when I was bored this afternoon. |
