No More Reckoner?A rumor has been circling around the music industry about the alleged break up of rock band Reckoner, the band responsible for numerous hit singles such as Negative, Blackout, and Catalyst Analyst. It was said that the two primary song writers of the band, JC Anderson and Troy Mascenon, quit the band after an argument while in the process of recording their 4th and 5th studio album. The rumors began when thousands of fans complained that Reckoner's website has shut down. Another cause of the rumor was the continuous postponing of the release of Undivided, the final single off Everything X. We are now here to confirm you that the rumors are true, Troy, JC, JPC, Carl, and Tristan have parted ways.It was JC Anderson who made the first move as he announced his departure from the band in his official Facebook page two days ago.JC Anderson wrote:It is with great sadness that I tell you today of my departure from Reckoner. It is not my intention to leave the band, but I was forced to. Do not believe the rumors that say Troy and I got into a fight because the real reason of my departure is my illness. I do not want to elaborate on that since I consider it something personal. My doctor told me that I should get frequent rest and avoid stress, something that I always encounter whenever recording or touring, so I had to leave the band. I will miss those times that we all got into arguments during recording sessions or all those crazy shit we do on stage, I truly will. But something I will miss the most would have to be the guitarist of Reckoner. Well don't you guys worry, this is not the end yet.
Troy Mascenon has released his statement (also on his Facebook page) earlier this evening regarding his side on leaving the band.Quote:If JC wrote his reasons on leaving Reckoner, I guess I have to give mine as well. As JC has said, do not believe the rumors and only believe what we say, we did get into minor arguments and discussions frequently, but those weren't his reasons on leaving and those weren't my reasons on leaving. After JC left a few weeks ago, I lost hope in the band. Reckoner had to be the Troy-JC-JPC-Carl-Tristan band, removing one of those names just didn't seem right and just like a domino, everything had to fall down. I met up with the rest of the band two days before leaving to tell them and they never showed bad feelings towards me. The band may be broken apart, but still our friendship remains. Who knows? Maybe in a few years we'd all get back together and perform some shows, or maybe even reunite for good. Well for now, we would all have to wait
In an interview with JPC, Carl Morrisson, and Tristan Fuller with NME, the three left out members of the band express their thoughts on the break up and talk about their future plans.NME: So how are you guys today?
JPC: Well I have to admit that we are pretty sad that the band had broken up, we surely would miss the great times we all had together.
Tristan: Yeah, the recording, performing, all that stuff.
JPC: But still, we had to respect the decision of our fellow band members, we can't keep them in the band just because we need them, that would be selfish. And besides we all needed time to get back to our families as well, all the touring and making songs kept us away from our family so now's the chance to live normal lives again.
NME: But do you guys have any bad feelings towards the two?
Carl: Well, not really. We are all still great friends, JC had to leave because of a he..erm I mean illness, and Troy had to leave because of JC. We don't blame them for leaving the band, we can't control them. Friends stay as friends no matter what. Ringgo and Paul remained as friends years after The Beatles broke up, Graham reunited with Blur after 7 years so we can't see it as an impossibility.
NME: So what is left for you guys? What do you plan to do with your lives?
Carl: Well, for me, I would just live a simple life back in Teignmouth. With all the money I've earned from the band and having nothing to spend on, I would plan on building a beach house somewhere in the Pacifi or Barcelona or maybe a trip all around the world with my wife and my son.
JPC: I would fulfill my dream of becoming a director of indie films, since I have no more responsibilities on other studd except my family, I could work on films!
Tristan: Well I plan to put up a business, but I still don't know what exactly.
NME: Last question, do you think that there is a possibility of a reunion?Carl: Definetely! You can count on that.
OOC: Atleast I can start on other bands I always wanted to RP and not just stick to Radiohead, but this wouldn't be the last of Reckoner I assure you..Edited by user 13 October 2010 21:07:20(UTC)
