The Canadian music sensations The 6 Pops have released their latest album, their 6th to date, titled Cheap Knockoffs.

"We wanted to reach out to our alienated gay friends and make a statement about bullying, but we thought there was more money in rock'n roll", said the bands leader Billy. "At least we didn't burn down the Playboy mansion."

"Tensions in the band arose after The 6 Pops went number 1 for the first time", bass guitarist Poppy Sam admitted. "We argued when one of my personal music heroes denied any knowledge of us. When Nick Johnson said he never heard of us it was like dying inside. Ok we never went #1 before that, we never did any touring of significance, but dammit we played once across the street from The Hard Rock Cafe and we thought we hit the bigtime then. So we finally decided to write a tribute song, called Nick Johnson Is Legend, and it is on the b-side of our latest single called Cheap Knockoff which we are releasing tommorow. We added a cover version of Monster Mash to round it out. If he says we are still a band of cheap knockoffs again, then at least he would be naming our latest album and single!"

The 6 Pops were formed originally by 5 middle age men calling themselves The 5 Pops. They never took off as The 5 Pops, but added a new dimension to the band with the addition of Granpa Jones on his flute. "Old hippies with flutes remind people of when Peter Gabriel or Jethro Tull used to play", said Jones. "We've attracted a lot of young ladies as well, I see them about 45 years old in the crowd going nuts all the time. It's nice still when I see the youngins enjoy themselves."
