So Brandon, you’ve signed a record deal now although no announcement has been made from the label what’s going on?
Brandon: I don’t really know. It’s a new label so I guess they’ve got a lot of things to figure out but I’ve definitely signed and they’ve already booked a studio for me so we’ll see how things go.

When can we expect you to start recording your album?
Brandon: I’ll be heading out there in the next two weeks to record my album. I’ve got everything figured out for it so it just needs to be recorded.

And where are you recording the album and who will be producing it?
Brandon: Ummm. I’ll be recording the album in a very small town in Indiana called Elizabethtown. It’s the only place I wanted to record the album at, The label handed me a list of these state of the art studio’s in places like, California, New York, London and Paris and I just tore it up really. And I chose Elizabethtown, I’ve been there a lot over the past 5 years and it’s peacefulness and tranquillity is something I’ve been trying to find all my life.

So are you planning on moving there permanently?
Brandon: Well I’m not Ryan Ross Hernandez or Eric Quillington, I can’t afford to just move places whenever I feel like it but someday yeah, I’d love to just move there and forget about everything that’s not important, it’s a million miles away from Seattle, Washington and I’d very much like to move there but for now I’m gonna have to just stay put for a while.

You’ve gained a small amount of support for your album already with people like Glamazon, Radio Vine and JR Rhythm looking forward to hearing it, with Glamazon in particular stating that she’s expecting big things from you, do you feel under pressure?
Brandon: Yeah of course, I’m always feeling under pressure. Things that come so easy to some people like just having a conversation with a stranger is a scary concept for me and I’ve tried for many years now to try and rid myself of this lack of self esteem. I’ve heard a lot of people say that to be a musician you have to have a big ego and that’s just something I don’t have, I put myself down all the time because it’s just who I am, I don’t know any different. I’m trying to learn and I can see changes in myself and I think there’s a specific reason for that, which I won’t go into because I don’t think people will understand.

I’m sure they will?
Brandon: I’d rather not go into it. I will say that when you’ve been looked down on all your life as a failure, someone who won’t amount to anything in their life and when you’ve got nobody to pick you up and believe in you then it’s tough, but when someone comes along and seemingly supports you and encourages you to go out and make things happen for yourself, well that’s just magical. To have someone who I can feel 100% comfortable talking to and it just makes a major difference. It’s probably tough to understand but it makes sense in my mind.

When can we expect you debut album to be released?
Brandon: I have no clue. Sometime in February or March maybe but I really can’t answer that question because I just don’t know yet.

And finally what is influencing your debut album?
Brandon: A mix of everything really, main influences come from the past. The Doors, Noir Désir, The Replacements, Tom Petty and a particular influence has been the album Tea For The Tillerman. Modern influences are harder to find, the early records from The Bards have been influential. It’s tough to find modern influences because it’s all very pop dominated, don’t get me wrong there is something more to some artists like, Glamazon, Radio Vine, Hannah Beth and Gears Of Bremen and they’re all very endearing and I do find myself listening to their music and enjoying it but there isn’t a whole lot of influential music out there and there’s a huge lack of talented male solo artists which is also disappointing.
