The film stars Jake Wilson, Jennifer Myers, Scott Davis, Gavin Holmes, Jennifer Arkin and Chris Lowell. The film is set to be produced by Viewpoint Studio’s and distributed by Columbia Pictures.
The film’s soundtrack was dealt with by Jake Wilson.PlotCarl Anderson (Jake Wilson) is 27 years old from Washington and his life finally seemed to be settling down, he was on the verge of a big promotion and he was in a long term relationship and he was even contemplating marriage but all of that changed when his girlfriend of 6 years Katie (Gemma Greene) decided that she no longer loved him. Carl takes the break up very hard and ends up isolating himself, he has become withdrawn and has been routinely ignoring his friends Dave (Scott Davis), Mark (Gavin Holmes) and Jonathan (Chris Lowell) until they finally decide that they’ve had enough of his wallowing in self pity.
Carl’s friends hold a mini intervention and almost force him to join them on a week long vacation back in the old lake house where they used to vacate together. As they set out on the road spirits quickly start to lift up and Carl finds himself happy for the first time in months. But as the guys all arrive at the lake house they’re met by a nasty surprise, their wives have showed up with the children and seem intent on making this vacation a family affair.
Carl quickly finds himself feeling lonely again, he often spends the days away from his friends and their families taking long walks and as he continues to explore the surroundings and familiarizes himself with his former favourite place in the world.
But on a chance encounter everything changes, he is sat on a large rock overlooking the river when he notices someone sitting on a rock nearby, they both look at each other and then the woman walks over to him, “Oh my god, your Carl. Carl Anderson?” she asks.
As it turns out that girl was Carl’s first ever girlfriend Jenny Newman (Brittany Knoxville) and their lives have gone in very different directions, Jenny is married but isn’t happy at all but can’t seem to go through with a divorce and her husband is a hotshot agent and seems to work almost 24/7. As the two begin to spend time reminiscing about the past it becomes evident that neither has ever been happier than when they used to date, “Can I let you into a secret, I always thought we’d be the ones with the happy marriage and the kids and the lake house, that was supposed to be us. What went wrong?”
Inevitably they grow close to each other again and suddenly Carl has a second wind. Finding himself happier than he ever has been he starts to revert back to that young teenager that he once was, finding himself feeling more like the person he always wanted to be than ever before doing things that he never thought he would be doing again, playing childish games that he thought he was too old to play.
One evening the two find themselves alone laying on the grass looking out over the river and into the sunset, they both confess their love for each other and with that, Jenny finds a reason to finally end her hellish marriage.
The film cuts to three years later and Carl and a pregnant Jenny have returned to the lake house with a one year old child Zachary and have decided to raise their family there, after Carl lands his dream job of being a column writer which gave him the freedom to work from home.
The film ends with Jenny’s waters breaking and Carl rushing to the hospital with her and their one year old child.CastJake Wilson - Carl Anderson

The production will be from Viewpoint Studio’s and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film was directed by Jake Wilson and was also co-written by Jake Wilson and Josh Bagnall which began in August 2010 and it was completed in January 2011.MusicThe music that accompanied the film was hand-picked personally by Jake Wilson. Jake commented on the music of the film stating that, “I just wanted it to be the perfect accompaniment for the film, I rarely do feel-good comedy type films so I had to choose carefully.” |
