Interviewer: First off, I must say thank you for taking time off to be here today, chatting with Star Magazine!
Brittany: Its a pleasure. I love Star Magazine... hehe.
Interviewer: And we love you too Brittany. Let me start off with, you had such a crazy year in 2010! How do you take it all in?
Brittany: I know, I just do. I try not to over think things, just whatever happens, happens. Don't get me wrong, I ask myself all the time how the hell did I survive the last year, and I'm just proud to say I did.
Interviewer: So how did you do it? You've gone from the media's worst enemy to a role model to other females who are in the same predicament as you, whether its in the industry or not.
Brittany: It's not like I had a strategy or a game plan as to how I would have redeemed myself really. I just thought, well my last attempt might have been a commercial success but critically, not so much. So this time I figured, I wanna do it my way. Not listen to others who encouraged me to do everything I did with my debut album since I didn't have a boss or a figure to tell me which way to go, I didn't need a boss. I figured I didn't need anyone but myself for Halfway There. I got a great label and boss and the rest was history. When I was writing Truce, it wasn't intended to be an apology letter to the media but it was a song apologizing to anyone I have offended whether it be old time friends or yes, the media and the industry. And for me to be a role model for young females who are misunderstood and are put into predicaments when they feel like they are up against the world, it makes me feel great. Because I feel for anyone who is in that situation because I once was...
Interviewer: Any advice for them?
Brittany: Just to keep pushing forward, reflect upon the things you have done wrong instead of pointing fingers, since, when people are in situations when their getting blamed for something that IS partly their fault, and their getting blamed a lot for it, its just natural to try and blame it on other things. So girls, just look at what you've done and try to restart fresh.
Interviewer: Yes Brittany, and you have started fresh haven't you? Your last release was Halfway There released in early November and was considered a success critically and commercially as opposed to your debut release. Do you think people were anticipating the E.P to be bad?
Brittany: No, not all the way. I just think people wanted to see me fail again. I think people wanted to be like, this girls career is over with. And that's not what happened. I sang my heart out on that E.P and when people got a chance to throw away all the media and negativity surrounding my name, they actually enjoyed the extended play, and I was so happy to hear that people really thought it was amazing. That made me just feel amazing.
Interviewer: And you couldnt do it without, your leading producer, Danny Allen...
Brittany: We cannot forget Danny. Wow, he's really an amazing person. He, through out all the crap that was going on, still believed in my ability. I told him a particular sound I wanted and he got it 100%. That's why I think I fell in love with the album, because all the sounds I generated in my mind, he got it out onto paper and it just made me fall in love with everything I did in the studio.
Interviewer: Indeed. Your two singles released from the E.P. "Truce" and "Me Agaisnt The World" debuted at #2 and #3 respectively and these are two of the highest positions you've made, how does that make you feel?
Brittany: It makes me feel great, that my fans love my music as much as I do..
Interviewer: I realized, after seeing you live on your tour that your not the same glitz and glamor pop star that we once saw, is she gone?
Brittany: I mean, that was back then and I had got inspired to just throw that all away, and make real music. Music that I love, that has depth. Not just club music and music about dancing all night long. I've been inspired by songs that I can seriously relate to, talking about things that people could connect to. And that's the type of music I'm making now....
Interviewer: Do you ever regret doing the things you have done when you first began to be famous?
Brittany: No... not really. It was all a learning experience. Everything that has happened has taught me so many things and I couldn't ask for anything more..
Interviewer: So enough of 2010, lets get to 2011! You've got some big plans now! Your name has been everywhere and your considered one of the biggest acts of 2010. Are you walking into 2011 with your head high?
Brittany: I definitely am!
Interviewer: You have plans to release your second album, how is that going?
Brittany: Absolutely amazing.. its turning into something that I would never think it would turn into.. everyone will hopefully fall in love with what I'm recording as much as I am right now.. I'm hard at work and I just know it will pay off.
Interviewer: Rumors have been circulating that there will be production from Jason Smith, the returning Danny Allen, The Wolverines and your writing with Brandon Caulfield and Book Of Love.. is this true???
Brittany: I cannot confirm everything, but I can say Jason Smith & Danny Allen are both going to be in the studio with me...
Interview: Very well. When in 2011 could we expect the single and album?
Brittany: Once again, cant really say. Just know I'm hard at work and don't expect to keep my fans waiting for too long.
Interview: Speaking of being hard at work, your also going to be starring in a movie, correct?
Brittany: Yes! Its called On The Road To Joy. Cannot wait for it to come out, so everyone can see my acting skills.. I'm good!
Interviewer: Well I cannot wait to see it either. Wow, you are so busy, how do you keep time for your boyfriend Jake Wilson?
Brittany: Well about a month ago I took a break, and he slowed down all the craziness he was doing and I actually got time to spend with him. Now, I don't see him a lot but I still see him, thankfully. We understand that its not easy maintaining a relationship when you have two famous people. He's an amazing guy, and I don't think I could be happier with anyone else to tell you the truth. And plus, we'll be working together on my album, and in the movie, so its not that bad at all. Its actually amazing that I can work with the man I love (laughs)
Interviewer: So you love, Jake Wilson.
Brittany: Yes, I do...
Interviewer: That's great, I wish the best of luck to you and him as well.
Brittany: Thank you very much.
Interviewer: Well, not going to hold you up any longer Brittany, it was great having you here and I look forward to your new album and new movie, looks like you will have another huge year in 2011.
Brittany: Thanks! And I hope you like.
