“How’s everybody doing out there tonight?

It’s f*cking incredible to see that so many people have shown up for the opening of the Half-Moon Music Hall, I see a bunch of familiar faces out there in the crowd and hopefully a bunch of faces that will become familiar to us by the end of the night. I’m not much of a public speaker, so I’m gonna try to keep this short and to the point.
This building, whether it’s in the form of a music venue or in the form of a nightclub is a place for memories to be made, whether you’re in the industry and you’re just looking to have one hell of a party or whether you’re just a fan of a band or artist and you wanna support them and have a good time. When myself, Amy and Faith set about putting the idea for this venue together we had one particular universal aim and that was for it to be a place for everybody, for all walks of life, all circumstances and situations and we hope that you people are all on the same page. This isn’t just for the punks, the rich people, the alternatives and the scene kids, this is a place for everybody. We will try our very best to bring you the best of the industry without genre judgement and provide you with a place for memories. So if you’re totally f*cking cool, a social outcast, an introvert it doesn’t matter, come here, mingle and have a good time.

Now ... Who’s gonna get me a f*cking drink?!”

OOC: Yeah, it's early I know ... buuut I'll not be around for this, I'm at a winter barbeque tonight (don't worry, I also agree that those two things should never be put together.) But feel free to use this thread and do some interactive rping tonight if you wanna, I noticed this place has been pretty dead these past few weeks, but hopefully you can find this thread useful or something, anyway have fun if you choose to take part, everybody is welcome! :)

PENETRALIA LIVE;
HALF-MOON MUSIC HALL, MANHATTAN, NEW YORK, USA
31, JANUARY 2015

UserPostedImage

The four members of ‘Penetralia’ walk out onto the stage with a confidence in their own ability, rarely has a band came out of nowhere and seemed so at home onstage and on record. Helmed by frontman ‘Koda Espinosa’ who pens the lyrics for this band and as you’d imagine takes the majority of the adulation of the fans, this four-piece are just about as close as a band can be, childhood friends and brothers alike, Koda and drummer Jonah being the only blood relatives in the band, but the connection between the four of them onstage is undeniable and it’s bassist Gunner Lee that keeps things running smoothly onstage, very much the underrated workhorse of the band as you’ll notice onstage with his relentless playing and his interaction with his bandmates.

The quartet open up with their previous single ‘Stargazing’ a chart hit, which as you’d imagine the majority of the 500 fans in the audience known word for word, musically it’s fast-paced and full of energy which the majority of the music seems to be, despite the emotive lyrics the band somehow make sure that their crowd has fun listening and watching them play live, they seems to be in their elemtent onstage and Koda’s face seem to light up at the sight of fans passionately singing his words back at him.
The interaction between lead singer and crowd is always full of respect and praise, at one point during their performance he chuckles and says, “You guys are f*cking nuts!”. The band are entirely comfortable in their abilities and it shows, it makes their live concerts enjoyable experiences for everybody in the venue and that’s the hardest part for any band.

Having just released their second album, the band are already forming the nucleus of a very strong back catalogue which is impressive so soon in their careers, it means that live performances as a support band will give them tough decisions on which songs to play, this also suggests that it won’t be long before they’re headlining theatres around the world, but this is a band that you’d have to say are destined to be selling-out stadiums all over the world.
“A Different Kind Of Angel” and “Picture Perfect Family” bring a different feeling to the arena as it’s heartwrenching emotions are displayed to the crowd through softer instrumentals and tender vocal delivery by Koda, the crowd sing along as much as they can, not easy with the album still very new in the minds of their fans, but the fans in the venue tonight are the obsessive fans, only 500 tickets made available means that the dedicated ones made sure they got their place at the gig ahead of casual fans.

Koda dedicated the next song “Gem” to the crowd, “This is for everybody out there that has ever felt lost or worthless” he paused for a moment before continuing, “Just know that you’re not the only ones that feel this way and that somebody out there loves you all.” of course tonight is different from a normal show, the band are playing these songs live for the very first time in an intimate capacity, it seems like they have their latest songs fully engrained in their mind because they never missed a beat.
They then delivered their final two songs of the evening, “Sleepless Nights Under Dirty Sheets” and the shorter “Forevermore”, the crowd didn’t want the performance to end but after they finished their final song of the evening, bassist Gunner Lee took the microphone to thank the audience, “You guys are incredible, man! The album has been out for less than a week and you’re already singing along to every word, that’s crazy dedication right there. So on behalf of the band, we just wanna say a huge thank you for supporting us so enthusiastically over the past year and we hope to see you guys when we go on tour this year. Also give a big thanks to Cara and Faith for making tonight happen, they came up with the idea, so when you see em’ hanging around the bar later tonight, buy them a drink or two. So stick around, we’ll be hanging out here for a few more hours and I hear the DJ is gonna be playing out album in it’s entirety.”
And with that the band left the stage, heading to the backstage area while the DJ began the evenings entertainment by playing the bands first ever single ‘Cupid’s Scythe’.

SETLIST;

Stargazing
A Different Kind Of Angel
Picture Perfect Family
Gem
Sleepless Nights Under Dirty Sheets
Forevermore

OOC: Again, I'm throwing this thread open to interaction. So if you wanna, feel free to take part. Everybody's welcome :)

Sara Daniels and Faith Browdy hang in the back of the bar, each of them with a strong drink in their hands - Sara's because being in large crowds made her slightly nervous, and Faith's because, well, drinking is fun and she loves it. Faith chews on the end of her straw - a habit that she picked up late in the night when she wanted to go outside for a cigarette, but didn't want to miss any of Penetralia's show. The show was over, but the straw was momentarily distracting her from going outside, so for the time being, she was happy.

"Your boyfriend is cute when he's on stage," Faith comments to Sara, grinning.

"Yeah, he's pretty cute off-stage, too," Sara says back with a wink and giggle.

"I know, I know. You knew what I meant." Faith laughs and looks around the crowd, searching for other friendly faces.

Cara makes her way over towards the bar, delighted with how the show went. She orders herself a drink before spotting Sara and Faith nearby, she wanders over towards them with a smile on her face. "Hey girls!" she looks at Faith, "First gig out of the way for this place." she says to Faith, "F*cking killing babe, right?" she smiles and gives Sara a hug, "Haven't seen you in ages, you having fun?" she says, "So what did you think of your man?" she says with a smile, she looks around to see if she can see them in the crowd yet before turning back to Faith and Sara, "they should be out here soon, I think."

Faith and Sara spot Cara at the same time, both of them waving to her. Faith wraps one arm around Cara's waist, pulling her into a half-way hug as they celebrate their first Half-Moon show being a success. "We did it, babe. This must be what success feels like," Faith says back before taking a long sip of her drink, the straw making the bubbly sound to tell her that there's no more liquid left in the glass.

Sara hugs Cara back with a beaming smile. She always enjoyed having Faith and Cara as friends. "Yeah, I'm having tons of fun! This place is really great!" she tells her, looking around. "He did really great. But he always does, so I'm not surprised." She giggles and winks.

Cara laughs as Faith brings her in for a hug, "Hell yeah! and it feels so good!" she was pleased that herself and Faith had managed to prove themselves, not only with keeping the label on top of it's game with new signings and successful results from those already part of the label but also the fresh new ideas that they had managed to make happen with the label, most notably the music venue.

Care smiles and wraps an arm around Sara, they were both very different people but already Cara adored the singer, "Well we gotta get you performing here one night." she says with a big smile, "Ahhh, you guys are super f*cking cute!" she winks and takes a sip of her drink, "So how's it been since you guys moved in together?"

Koda walks into the half-moon music venue with Sara, as is regular occurance on Saturday evenings it was the alternative night, something Koda knew he would enjoy. He walked up the staircase with Sara and made his way to the bar, "what you drinking tonight, Sara?" He asks with a smile. He could hear a familiar pop-punk song playing loudly over the giant dancefloor area and smiled widely. They had a booth reserved upstairs overlooking the dancefloor. He nodded his head to the music, holding Sara's hand and swinging it playfully back and forth as they waited at the bar for their drinks.

Sara follows behind Koda, smiling and waving at all the faces that she recognized in the venue. They had been here so often since it opened that she could recognize the faces of at least most of the staff and some of the other regular comers - although most of them she didn't know their names. She felt normal when she was here with a big group of other music fans, like she wasn't famous or well-know, but just another music lover that wanted to hear some good music and have a good time. She couldn't help but nod her head to the beat of the music as well as they stand at the bar, Sara trying to figure out what she wants to drink. "Ummm..." She purses out her lips, as she often does when she's thinking. "Vodka on the rocks for now. I'll work my way up to something fancier later." She giggles and gives Koda's hand a little squeeze.

Koda was accustomed to this new venue, especially having performed here as well as spending time here often since its opening. Koda nodded at Sara and ordered the drinks. A vodka and a glass of whiskey before they both made their way upstairs to their booth. It was an area of the room with the best view of the stage and the dancefloor but was secluded enough to have conversations with people without having to raise your voice, as Koda and Sara arrived, Koda set the drinks down on the table and sat down, he placed his jacket over the back of the chair and waited for Sara to sit down on the leather seating, he gave her a kiss on the cheek, "my girl is looking fiiiine tonight" he says in a mock west-coast accent, laughing slightly before taking a drink.

Sara follows Koda up to their booth, overlooking the stage and the dancefloor. It was perfect for them when they just wanted to sit back and have a good time, but Sara knew that eventually - after she had a couple drinks in her system - she would want to go down to the dancefloor with the rest of the crowd. "Awww... Thank you. I can't complain about the man I got with me either," she says back as she sits down in the leather booth, blowing Koda a little kiss. "Who's playing tonight?"

Koda nods, "Yeah, you're very lucky to have me." he laughs playfully, he thinks for a moment, "I dunno, I think it's just a DJ set tonight." he smiles, "We both know if they have confetti then I'm gunna end up on the dancefloor, busting out all my awesome moves." he chuckles and places his arm around her shoulders, pulling her a little closer in towards his chest as they watched the crowds dancing around below them, "You think you'll be able to keep up?" he says with a smile.

Sara looks up at him and giggles, rolling her eyes when Koda say that she's very lucky to have him, although honestly, she really did think that she was one of the luckiest girls on earth to be dating a guy like him. "Oh. I guess that's still cool," she says back, sticking her tongue out. DJ sets were fine, but she always preferred live music - she was sure most people did. She lets herself be pulled in closer to Koda as they sit together, overlooking the crowd below them. Sara had been afraid that if she and Koda moved in together, their relationship would lose some of it's fun, but Koda had proved her completely wrong. In fact, she had been having more fun with him than she had been when they were living apart, only seeing each other when the other one wasn't on tour - which at the time, wasn't very often. "Oh, Koda, I think it's you that won't be able to keep up with me. Don't you watch my music videos? You know how mad my moves are," Sara says back jokingly, giving him a little nudge.

Koda smiled as she moved in closer to him, he took a sip of his drink and observe the dancing happening down below them, he listened to Sara and laughed, "Girl please, I got skills you can't even imagine. My moves are fabulous" he says snapping his fingers. He shrugs, "If I'm honest, I think people would much rather see you dancing instead of me. You're much sexier, what with your boobs and sh*t" he says with smirk. "But of course, I'll be bringing my A game on that dance floor, you betta be ready!"

Sara looks up at Koda as he talks about his 'fabulous moves,' laughing as he continues the whole routine. "I'm sure we'll both draw a lot of attention to ourselves. We tend to do that when we go out," she says back, taking a long drink of her vodka, almost drinking the whole glass. "But I'm sure I'll be able to keep up. I've kept up with you for this long, haven't I?" She winks.

Cara Zayn, Amy Meyer and Christian Fallon were sat at a table in the club, the three were all smartly dressed, Christian was wearing a simple white shirt with black tie and black blazer. Cara and Amy were slightly more casually dressed, but still rather smartly dressed which was slightly unusual for both.

Cara headed over to the bar to get some drinks for the table while Christian and Amy chatted to each other. The pair are currently working together with Christian producing a record for Amy, they all appeared in good spirits. Meanwhile at the bar, Cara orders a bottle of wine for the table and a glass of whiskey for Christian. She chatted to the bartender while she waited for her drinks.

OOC: I forgot about this thread. A little bored, I should be working but meh. Feel free to join in on this if you want to, everybody is welcome :)

Kim Lee was dressed with a some dress pants and and and a white polo button up shirt. He was interested in performing for a crowd and he heard that this place will allow him to sing to get more out there to the public. He as started working on a EP that he could release but whatever buzz he had from being on StarFactory was gone now as he was just starting out all over again. He let out a sigh as he sat at the bar and looked around.

Leon Peralta, writer for the Coast 2 Coast Music blog, needed some new scenery away from his tiny apartment. He figured isolating himself from people wouldn't do him any good either. He had invited Noel Houston, one of his good friends, to hang out with him. He had sometime until Noel showed up so he thought he might as well get some work done. He took a booth seat in the bar and began working on a forthcoming review.

Cara spots Kim Lee sat alone at the bar, she shuffled over towards him and introduced herself, "Hello there, I'm Cara." she says with a warm smile, although on the surface she appeared rather brash in personality, she did have moments of politeness and kindness. "What's your name?" she asks before continuing before Kim Lee could answer, "Are you alright? You don't look so happy."

Meanwhile, Amy makes her way over towards the bar to pick up the drinks and spots Leon, she didn't know him personally but knew of him. She walked over to him and smiled, "Hey! thanks for the review" she says with enthusiasm, "It was really kind of you. Just wanted to say hey and thank you for it. Would you like a drink?" she says, nodding towards a bottle of Whiskey on the shelf.
