Website Interview With Stacey Walton
Stacey, Your seen as a rebellious rock chick, what’s the craziest thing you’ve done?Stacey: Umm, I dunno there’s a couple of things I’ve done which are kind of crazy but funny, I found out my boyfriend was cheating on me like 4 months ago. So I stole his car keys and drove his car into this empty field, I set the backseat on fire and ran away from it and watched it burn and then eventually kinda explode which was kinda fun, apart from being arrested.
Also I was expelled from school for pinching a male teachers arse which was also pretty funny.
It must have been tough being your teachers? Stacey: Yeah I guess so, when I actually went and stayed the whole day. But most of the time I’d go in for the first lesson and then just hide out in the woods behind the school with friends and we had fun with that.
What are your earliest music memories? Stacey: Fuck that’s kind of a tough one really, I remember when I was like 10 I met Oasis because my dad was a roadie for them between like 98 and 04. I sort of have a vague memory of my parents listening to records when I was younger, they come home form a night on the town and put on The Stones or Zeppelin but other than that I can’t really remember too much from my childhood when it comes to music. I know I used to get my granddad to play the guitar for me because he was pretty good at it. But that’s about it really.
Were you popular in high school? Stacey: Yeah I was, I had a group of about 6 close friends and we’d used to hang out a lot in and out of school. In 2007 my boyfriend at that time took me to Glastonbury, he was 17 at the time and I was only 15. Anyway we stayed for the full weekend and we saw people like Kasabian, The Who, Arcade Fire, Dirty Pretty Things, Babyshambles and a load of other bands. It was an amazing experience over the whole weekend. I we drunk a lot and smoked a lot and it was an amazing weekend for me.
Did you always want to be involved in music? Stacey: Not since like a really young age but from about 14 years old I got a guitar and fell in love with music. People might think because I’m generally a punk/rock fan that I don’t like pop music. I do like all kinds of music and if you had a look at my ipod you’d see how many different kinds of music I listen to.
So who do you like the most on your ipod? Stacey: Umm a lot, Quarantine, Thunder Road, Reckoner. I like the Stephanie Fierce song Massacre In The Industry and Little Miss Controversy by Stephanie Fierce and Miss Vanity. I like that new girl Glamazon. I like The Voyd, Saburben Sunrise, The Walls, Long Nights. I like PANIC, Tisha, G2L are pretty good. The top two I like though are Infinite and Ryan Ross Hernandez.
What are your plans for the next couple of months? Stacey: Well I wanna do some more UK gigs for the next few months if I can. And I wanna release my first single in the next couple of months, I wanna record and album in October or November.
So will you be leaving the UK for your career? Stacey: No, I’d like to work in the US for a little while but for me I’m gonna stay in London because that’s where I’m from and that’s where I wanna be, I’ve got my friends there and it’s familiar to me so why would I wanna move.
Some people may consider you a bit aggressive, what do you think of that? Stacey: I am aggressive if I need to be, you know I can handle myself in a fight. Some of my friends have said I’m more like a guy than a girl. But to be honest I don’t particularly like to argue with people, if people could always get on well and be nice to each other that would be better, but it just doesn’t happen often. If I meet someone famous who I kind of respect then I’m gonna be polite and kind because of my respect for them.
Are you a sexual person? Stacey: Yeah why not. It’s like oh guys can be sexual, but when girls show that they’re kinda sexual it’s criticized. When I’m at my apartment in London I walk around naked. When I’m with a guy I like, then I can get a bit horny, why not. Surely it’s a good thing, I’m not a whore, I very rarely have one night stands unless I’ve had a few drinks.
What’s the best sexual experience you’ve had? Stacey: I was dating this guy for like 7 months when I was 16 and we used to hang out down by the river, it was sort of surrounded by trees for miles. So when we were hanging out there one day I decided I wanted to have sex and so we did. I wasn’t being rebellious I was just being horny. I enjoy it even more when there’s an element of “We may get caught” to it.
How do you deal with criticism? Stacey: If it’s from someone who doesn’t know me then I’m not really bothered, if it’s from a friend or someone who does know me then I’ll listen to what they have to say, but I won’t usually take their advice. If it’s from someone I respect and it’s constructive then I’ll take it on board. But really it’s up to me how I live my life, if you don’t like my music don’t listen to it. If you don’t like me then don’t read about me or don’t think about me. It’s pretty simple really.
Well we can’t wait for your debut album later this year Edited by user 13 July 2010 02:55:44(UTC)
