Are You Single? No, I’m dating Matt Urie who you probably know from Saburban Sunrise. We‘ve been dating for almost a month now I think. He‘s like the ideal guy for me, he‘s hot and he‘s got a heart, he‘s not a dick like most attractive guys.What do you prefer, recording or live performance?Without doubt it’s live performance. You can’t beat performing live, recording isn’t as glamorous as you’d think it’s very boring. You get something from performing live that you just can’t get when your stuck in a studio all day. Performing gives me such a rush, it’s so difficult to explain.Are you signed yet? Yeah I‘m signed with GrungeScornRecords. I’m still involved with Junction Records and they‘re sort of helping me out which is cool. The deal is, I release music under GrungeScornRecords and Junction Records help to make things happen in terms of press and touring and stuff because they have the right connections and there a more professional label, that‘s no disrespect to GrungeScornRecords but there a new label and don‘t have the resources to do fully develop an act, it‘s a good arrangement.Which musician would you like to be for a day? It’s gotta be Miss Vanity hasn’t it? If I had half of her creativity I would be delighted. She’s just incredible everything she does makes me go Holy Fuck that’s incredible. Your single A Tender Kiss did amazingly well, charting at number 2 in the weekly airplay charts, were you surprised? Yeah I was very surprised, the single’s been available for about 3-4 weeks now so I didn’t expect it to do particularly well. But it was an incredible thing when I got the call from a friend saying it was at number 2. It’s amazing and the fact that it isn‘t the most commercial song gives it a bit more of a shock, but now I‘ve gotta somehow follow that up. Your debut album, when can we expect it? Soon I hope, I’ve been recording bits of it here and there but I need another 4 songs to write, I’ve hit a writers block at the moment so that’s a downer, but I’ve arranged to meet up with Matt and try to write something together and get the creative juices flowing. Your seen as a rock chick, is that something your encourage? I wouldn’t say I go out and think, “Oh I’ve got to get wasted tonight, I’ve got a rock chick reputation to live up to.” but I’ll admit that I like to go out and have fun, drink, smoke, fuck. I’m 18 years old and that’s what 18 year old girls from south London generally do.
I’m loving the USA but it’s alcohol age limit is fucking crazy so I have to find some fake ID or other ways of getting alcohol. Would you be interested in a collaboration in the future? Yeah at some point, but there’s been no interest so far. There’s loads of people I’d like to work with, I’d like to work on a song with Saburben Sunrise, or even do a collaboration album with Matt. I’d like to work with the obvious choices, Ryan Ross Hernandez, Glamazon, Miss Vanity, PANIC, Stephanie Fierce, Infinite, Reckoner, The Voyd. I’d like to work with some young people like Michelle Green, MattY, Jenny Hudson, I’d like to work with Brittany Knox I could be a bad influence though because she doesn’t seem very wild, maybe I can turn her. And then there’s the likes of Mind and Quarantine which would be epic. But as of now I don’t have plans. So who’s the greatest music act in the history, your opinion obviously? My favourite of all time has to be The Replacements. It’s not about pitch perfect vocals with Paul Westerberg, it’s about raw emotion and that’s something I’d like to think my music has a bit of, I’m definitely mostly inspired by that kind of music. Would if be fair to say your still pretty unknown?Yeah I think so, I don't have paparazzi around me unless I'm shopping in London, so that's a good thing. Just because my song went to number 2 doesn't mean I become this huge star overnight. I just want to make sure that I'm not a one hit wonder. But yeah I think I'm still kinda unknown.So lets talk about your tattoo's, you have that one of your arms which is on show now an you also have a superman logo on your wrist. Anymore?No, I've been thinking about getting another one on my back but I'm happy with the ones I have right now. I don't want to have loads of tattoo's so that people are intimidated by me. I've been in a situation when I was younger when a guy was talking to me and he was a perfectly kind man but because he was plastered with tattoo's I felt pretty scarred, but three maybe four would be enough for me. |
