Origin: Hollywood, California
Genre(s): Rock, Alternative Rock, Blues Rock, Progressive Rock
Years Active: 2011 - present

Associated Acts: The Walls, Book Of Love

Biography
Left Of The Dial is an American Rock Band formed in Hollywood, California in early 2011 by Edward Barát and Joe Lee Dayton.
They then recruited former guitarist of The Walls and friend of Joe, guitarist Dan Richerds. They continued recruiting another two new band members, on guitar they recruited the UK singer-songwriter/guitarist Ethan Plyth and on drums they recruited the Book Of Love multi-instrumentalist Laura Paige.

The band are currently looking for a record label but due to Barát, Dayton and Paige all having record deals at major labels the band are set to head into a recording studio sometime in February to begin writing songs that will form their debut album.
According to frontman Edward Barát it appears that the band will be run correctly, “It’s not my band, it’s not Joe’s band or Dan’s or Ethan’s or Laura’s. It’s our band and it’s gonna be run properly, we’re gonna hit the studio hard in February and we’re gonna see what happens, we’ll write some songs together and we’ll write some songs on our own, if someone has material they think is good then we’re gonna give it a shot at recording it. There’s gonna be difficulties but I’m 100% committed to making this work and I’m sure everyone else is just as committed to this, it’s not a side-project for me, this is a big deal. It’s gonna be run like a democracy.”

I forgot to mention, I got one or two extra drum tracks on this computer that Pete said we'd probably not use for the album. Anyone want 'em?

I think it'd be a good idea to write and practice a few songs while we're in the Studio this weekend and then do a few small 'hype' shows next week.

Edward: Definitely a great idea. If you could arrange a couple of gigs that would be great.

So How did this band come about?
Edward: From my point of view, I wanted something to last. I was signed to Junction Records as a solo artist and I even went into the studio for 3 days, But it just didn’t feel right to me. I spoke to Joe who I’ve known for about 3 years and we threw some ideas together and we came up with this idea for a band, obviously we didn‘t expect it to take off so quickly. The other guys may have a different take on things.

Laura: Well Eddie, Joe and Dan were looking for a drummer and I fit the bill.

And what made the rest of you guys join?
Dan: Well ever since my old band "The Walls" disabled Ive been trying to get another project started. I had a good project going for a little bit but that ended shortly after it started. After that I tried to get a few more projects together but none of them got out of the garage stage. The other day Joe gave me a call and asked if I would be interested in starting a new band with him and Ed. I was pretty much all for it because I was living in my buddy's living room and sleeping on a couch and needed something that would be able to get me out of there and I felt like this would be the right project to do that with.

Laura: Well, Eddie, Joey and Dan were looking for a drummer and Peter and me had been talking during the Warped Tour and he mentioned that maybe being a full-time band wouldn't be the smartest idea since he was doing Goodbye Mars. So, I wanted to join something full-time and Left of the Dial was just that.

Ethan: Well i saw the opportunity to be a part of something amazing, and Edward and Joe were advertising for people who play instruments that i can play! And i instantly realised that this was the place for me to be! Solo work is hard and lonely, at least this way i have some guys around me

What is the plan for this?
Edward: There’s still gonna be a lot of stuff to work out but I think the plan is to go into a studio, so what kinda songs we come up with and then hopefully put a record out and hit the road in support of it.

Will it be a headlining tour?
Joe: I dunno yet, if there’s a big enough fan base and it seems like a viable decision then sure, but I think the guys will be up for supporting for a bit.

Dan: It depends how good the record does. If the record takes off and goes double platinum then ya it might be a headliner but It all just depends on how successful our album is.

Laura: I think it will be, we're all artists with a good amount of hype behind us so I think that together we're probably going to have a big fanbase before we even release anything.

Ethan: I am definately up or supporting, i am just so excited that we have taken off so quickly!

And will this band be prone to the rock and roll excess?
Edward: I think right now it’s tough to know. But I think we’ll have a lot of fun on tour, I think we’re all gonna have a good time and I think we’ll get along well together.

Laura: I could say that we won't do any of those things but who knows. I haven't been faced with drugs as a problem yet but one of my heroes(Lynette Knackstedt of Skankin Pickle) died of drug abuse so I'll be trying my hardest to stay away.

How tough will it be for Laura being the only girl in the band?
Edward: I don’t think it will be tough for Laura at all. I know she can handle herself and she won’t hesitate if she thinks there’s a problem.

Dan: I think she'll be fine. If she does have a problem Im sure that she would tell us straight up that we're being fucking retarded or something so I bet she will be fine

Laura: Well, in my own words I don't think it should be any harder than anyone else has it. Ethan, Eddie, Joey and Dan are all real good guys so I have nothing to worry about. I mean in Book of Love I'm the only girl and me and Pete have kept a real good thing going for a good amount of time, so yeah.

Ethan: I reckon Laura will be fine, if anything - how are we gonna cope with her, haha, i joke Laura.

Ethan Plyth

Ethan Plyth has today announced that he will be leaving band Left of the Dial, before they have even been able to start anything! He claims that he is leaving because he feels that the sudden change in his life (for example being away from his very young daughter) have affected him in a negative way.

Ethan is said to be very sorry for any inconveniences that this may have caused the other members of the band, but it had to be done for his, and his daughters sake.
