Closing the curtain on a smash album campaign? Mert celebrates Most Streamed Song of S1!
By Mert · 3 hours ago About ‘Bass Persuades’, their album
Mert appears to be making some changes as he takes the next step in his career.
Following his recent signing with Victory Records, the artist officially became part of the family and celebrated the success of his debut studio album alongside his new team. The celebration brought together close friends and supporters who had stood by Mert throughout his journey as an independent artist, as well as members of his new record label and fellow labelmates!
Released last season, his album "Bass Persuades" brought a fresh perspective to the industry's concept of an "era." With 55M in total sales and 73M units sold worldwide, the album reached #1 on 10 different album charts, including his home country, the United States. It maintained its position as the most successful Rock album on the charts for months. As of now, it's the 4th best-selling album of all time.
With five singles released from the project, the album delivered three Diamond-certified hits, three songs surpassing 20M+ in global sales, two #1 streamed songs, and three hits reaching #2 globally. Although Mert seemingly described "Heartbreaker", which appears to be the album's final single, as a flop during the celebration, the sales figures say otherwise.
Mert kicked off the album campaign with its lead single, "Bass Persuades". During the party, he admitted that he had never expected the song to make such a huge impact. He also shared how much fun he had creating it and expressed how happy he was that he managed to convey that same feeling to his listeners through the track.
The global hit, which became the first song of the season to surpass the 5 billion streams, topped the singles charts in six countries. It also marked Mert's second #1 project following his previous season's extended play, "Start All Over Again (and Again)"! During the celebration, he expressed his endless gratitude to his listeners for their unwavering support.
The album's third and fourth singles, "Crush" and "Didn't Mean To Turn You On" are also rapidly approaching the 5 billion streams milestone. The album could potentially feature three different songs surpassing 5 billion streams!
Unable to hide his amazement at the album's success, Mert also dropped hints about his upcoming era towards the end of the celebration. The artist revealed that he had spent the past few months working on improving his songwriting and production skills. He also mentioned that he had already created nearly 20 songs and was currently working with his team to make concrete decisions about what to do with such an extensive collection of material. He expressed how excited he was to start working on his next project with his new label and revealed that he would be exploring a different musical direction compared to his previous album.
Following clips from the celebration going viral across social media platforms, fans also noticed that Mert had performed an unreleased song during his recent concert in the UK. One fan who managed to get hold of the setlist revealed that the previously unheard track was titled "Dopamine". We'll have to wait and see whether it makes the cut for his upcoming project...
