About Soulz in their own words
Soulz formed out of a Detroit community center that needed a house band for its food drives. They stick together ever since. Marva's voice carries church and struggle in equal measure; the horns show up like reinforcements. They play benefit shows more than paid ones, and mean it every time — rent funds, bail funds, whatever the week demands. Songs about love double as songs about justice. Nobody's gotten rich. Everybody keeps showing up.
